I personally like your use of rhyme, but for the purpose of the tanka in general and for this contest in particular, rhyming is not allowed.
I like the storm imagery and the very thoughtful message of faith you deliver. Brooke

This has spot on syllables and strong spiritual message.
Only thing I can offer, try to minimize filler words like; in / a / so/ the :)
Otherwise well done and good luck in the contest.
Thanks for sharing it.
Maureen

You have written an excellent poem. It is skilfully crafted following the rules of the contest. The content is lovely moving from a storm to peace. Good luck in the contest.

Simple yet profound. These five lines speaks volumes. The various storms we face are indeed like various categories of hurricane, some pass through with minimal damages but others are life changing. No matter the storm there is indeed peace in the name of the Lord, so all we have to do is trust him in spite of. Really great piece, I can truly identify with it.

I have never tried to write a Tanka, but it seems like an exacting form. You manage to wrangle your central message well and keep it from being lost in the mechanics of the form.

This is not part of the poem, but in your author's notes : "This to (too) will pass."

Good luck in your contest.
