It filled me with a brilliant light
and I knew then what's always right:
it's action needed, not more talk -
we've lost the path we're made to walk.

The best way to get out of ourselves, is to extend a helping hand to those in need.
I really enjoyed this inspirational poem.

Hi Dawn,
do unto people as you would loved to be treated and then everything makes complete sense... the words our Saviour spoke. To the questions that haunt your days, they haunt me as well... but I can only live in hope that there is a plan... a plan for me, you and the rest of us mere mortals that struggle at times to see the good in this warped world... so I'll take my joy from being blessed with a community of virtual friends... some very special to me that I know have come into my life for a reason, and with purpose... it is to YOU and these fine souls that I send my love and wishes for a very safe, happy and fruitful Christmas... where ever we may all be strewn across the globe... May we celebrate this joyous occasion for the reason it exists... may we give blessings to a birthday wish and trust that the powers that be will direct our hearts to the light of our cause... yes, this is what your beautiful words evoked... thought of our true intended path... once the clouds part, the sun will shine through.

I think the verse that stood in my mind longer than everything was your second...
Anointed by my Saviour's grace,
why is it I can't see his face?
... it made me think, as long as I can see and feel his heart everything will be as it should... love your heart my sweet and most talented friend, have a wonderful and safe Christmas... and if you do get to see or talk to Lori, please give her my love and best wishes.

With our thoughts we create,
life's purpose,
James xx

A truly lovely poem, Dawn. I am inspired by your wonderful words, my friend. I think if we do practice our beliefs, providing they harm none, we can surely make a difference in this world. Thanks for sharing!

Hugs, Bev

Wonderful thoughts at this time of year to bring us back to what's important. First two lines are very good. I think most of us wonder and worry as you've expressed in these lines:
"Why am I here? What does life mean?
Is there a purpose? It would seem
that random chaos rules the world!"

Last stanza brings reader full circle to faith for a hopeful future. Rhyming is nice.

A truly beautiful poem with the Christmas spirit expressed so well.
We are all full of questions which often go unanswered but through spreading the true spirit of Christmas in actions not words so many people can experience joy-at least for a little while.
I loved the poem's message and presentation.
Merry Christmas.
A virtual six.
:-) Shirley

I once spend a Christmas Day in Mexico and saw children scavenging for food. I've never been able to enjoy a Christmas since with out contributing to make a child's Christmas better. This beautifully rhymed poem reminds us there is much more to Christmas.

Oh, I have seen such poverty too, and it's heartbreaking. If everyone did just a little we could accomplish so much...!

Thank you for this wonderful review, my friend. Merry Christmas!

Beautiful poem, Dawn. Living in a broken world makes us question a lot of things but our faith in God reminds us that he has the whole world in his hands.

I appreciated your your painful recognition of our plight, your thought-provoking questions and your optimism about the future. Yes, "action needed"--let's hope we're up to "the test"! I admired your rhymed couplets and use of enjambment. Cheers- Joan

Dean, I do love how you have stressed the first part of Christmas...I'm honored when someone says another greeting reflecting his or her religion, so why is my greeting suddenly politically incorrect? Ridiculous!

    Many thanks, buddy. MERRY CHRISTMAS!
reply by Dean Kuch on 19-Dec-2014
It is not politically incorrect, Dawn. You have just as much right as a Muslim, a Buddhist, or any other religion does to express your faith the way in which you see fit.

I thought it was wonderful! :)

So very true, more walk, less talk. If everyone did just one good deed daily for a different person, what a great world this could be. If we helped our neighbors when they need a little instead of averting our eyes, what a world this would be, If we spoke out against injustices constantly, instead of whispering out of fear, what a world this would be. Lovely poem for any time of the year. You've done it again, oh poetry genie. What color is the bottle you slip out of to write this gorgeous stuff? lol

I only speak the truth. You have a marvelous talent, Dawn, but something tells me you are either unaware of that, don't believe it, or both.

I am so encouraged - bless you for your kind and generous heart. I WILL make the new year the year I work on actually submitting more than a poem here and there! :0) Thank you again, very much.
