'The threshold has been breached today and I can bear no more,
and so I kneel and pray to God to heal a nation, sore.
The gang wars and pollution; these are killing more than bird!
What will it take before these pleas are ever, finally, heard?'

A beautiful expression, Dawn, of my own deep concerns for my country in this time of warring between criminals and police. It is, indeed, deeply disturbing.

Thanks for sharing.

:) Bev

This poem is hauntingly beautiful. The words deeply thought and the reader feels the fear, pain and questions. If only humanity wakes from the dreadful apathy and understands we can change. Each voice and our action is important and makes a difference. This poet brings us a message that calls on each of us. Please listen and act. Excellent!!!!

Wow! What a well written poem and I must say I feel the same pain you are writing about. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. It deserves a "6" and more.

a rhymed and metered poem "World Extinct" I loved your magnificent poem, but I'm afraid for this world and the people init. We do NOT learn any lessons. Our world IS in grave danger, and will remain so as long as there are greedy people. Well done.

Hey Dawn,
as always your mind's eye is on the bigger picture to where the greed of humanity is taking this beautiful blue planet and its inhabitants... one would think the past mistakes of humanity would have taken our resolve back to a nurturing of an earth that gives us so much back in return... but alas, the mighty currency that holds the power over people's lives has a firm strangle-hold, and won't let go... and so we appear to be on a one-way trip.

But me, I will always keep the positives alive... there are a lot of people out there wanting change... and change will come, and tides will turn, for everything passes. You know of my love for words that have meaning... your amazing words and choice of video and music clips said it perfectly... in my mind, the song 'Warmth' by Incubus jumped in... 'So Don't let the world bring you down... not everyone here is that fucked up and cold... remember why you came and while you're alive... experience the warmth before you go... away.' If you haven't heard the song, do yourself a favor and listen... it's off the album Incubus 'Make yourself'.

A truly exceptional rhymed and metered poem, my dear friend... something of real substance... something to tweak the conscious thought of those who know the time for change is here... Bob had it so right... Yes my friends... the answer is blowin' in the wind...

Time to draw the line in the sand...OUTSTANDING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

With our thoughts we create,
a movement of change,

Hmm, that is so sad that Barn owls are going extinct. I suppose it's just another sign that the end of the world is just around the corner. A touching tribute to such a beautiful bird, Dawn. Your rhymes paint such wonderful images, and also give thinks to ponder about our own future as well.

I admired your tribute to the barn owl, emblematic of broad annihilation, with your artwork selection and your words of exhortation. I enjoyed your rhymed couplets Here's to nurturing our world and each other! I hope your weekend is peaceful- Joan

Such a realistic message in this poem. Our world is out of control, seems mankind has lost sight of reality. Living in a fantasy that blurs the vision of truth, and realism. Love grown cold on every hand, hearts crystalized with hate for others.

This is a very strong plea to the world to straighten up and
do the right things for our survival. Good heptameter and aabb rhyme. I especially like the Quote from Leonard Bernstein: "To achieve great things, two things are needed; a plan, and not quite enough time." Meaning that we would have to hurry to get it done. LOL Lets hope the Barn Owls just found a more favorable environment in which to raise their young. Good job Dawn. :<) Nancy
