Since we moved into this house (two years ago) I have noticed the nightly noises. My husband always explains it away as the wind blowing tree branches against the house. But sometimes in the middle of a still weather night, there are thuds and bumps that sound like footsteps in the basement or on the stairs. No idea what causes them but it does scare the wits out of me.

Loved the tiny twisted tale. Can't wait for the next scary chapter.

Blessings
Janet

Yeah, that's the sort of thing they always say: "Oh, it's just your imagination running away with you again," or "Don't worry...it's just the wind." That's when I feel like saying, 'Okay, then you go down there and check it out. I'll be waiting right here'... heh-heh.
Thanks, Janet, I really appreciate the review. :) ~Dean

Hey, Dean,

I hate mirrors at night!
We have a full length mirror on the back of our guest room door.
I heard something in the backyard the other night and went into the room to investigate. It turned out to be a couple of raccoon's but when I turned to exit the room, the door had closed behind me and all I saw was a big guy coming towards me in the dark!
I let out a yelp and jumped back onto the bed, (and so did my "attacker", lol). My wife ran into the room in a flash, turned on the light and yelled, "You okay?"
I gave her a sheepish grin and said, "Yeah...I think I just scared myself!"
It took me an hour to fall back to sleep, hee, hee.

This story gave me the creeps...as I say, I hate mirrors in the dark!

Nice job with the set-up on this one, buddy. At least the kid has a new friend. It could get lonely around the house with dear old dad gone. Lol.

Hope all is well with you,
Bill

Ha-ha, thanks, Bill, and that's quite a story, my friend. I gotta admit, I'm not too fond of mirrors in general. They've always given me an eerie, uneasy feeling. Especially in the mornings, right after I first look into one after getting out of bed, heh-heh.
Much obliged for the laugh and the review, buddy. Always a pleasure.

Ha ha...yeah, after you get out of bed...scares the crap out of me to, buddy!

Hey, I finally posted my story, "The Accident". I'm glad you didn't "stop the presses" before I git this one out, lol.

I'll be sure to check it out for ya, Bill.

Rather frightening to happen in the room of a god fearing child, never a blithe spirit like Dorothy of Oz. Once I woke up to see the handle of my mother's vacuum as a snake. Ben afraid of them since and I have been exposed to poisonous sea snake since then.

Well, that's a bit creepy, Alan. Thanks for sharing that childhood experience with me. Were you dreaming, or did you simply imagine the handle as snakes?
Thanks again for your kind comments. I greatly appreciate it, as always.

    Creepy...very eerie, Alan.
I may use that idea in a Tiny Tale one day, acknowledging you as the inspiration behind it, of course. If you'll allow me to, that is?
reply by Alan K Pease on 09-Jul-2015
Sure. That would be inspiring to me.

I'll get to work on formulating the idea, then get back to you when the story is finished.

Thanks for the inspiration, my friend.

This tiny tale of horror used the storm, the wind, the darkness, and the mirror all key elements in setting the stage for the ultimate spook. An unsuspecting dad is about to have a serious reflection. Good story.

G'day Dean. I would have screamed like a sissy as well mate! This is another great addition to the book mate. I'm really enjoying the yarns that I have read but sadly I haven't been reviewing a whole lot because of life's interfearences (LOL you can borrow that word if you want LOL) so I've missed a few.. Great stuff cobber. Cheers Fez

No worries, Fez. I know exactly what you mean concerning life's interferences, mate. I've had a few of my own as of late.

Well, Dean, you've done it again. Excellent very spooky story, and you made it even more so by the girl in the mirror reaching for the dad. It grabbed me all right, and please write more goodies like this. Excruciatingly terrorizing.
Best wishes, Joan

Another good one, Dean. I've always found that scene, where the witness of a horror can see it happening behind the back of the unsuspecting victim, to be an effective tool. Gives me the creeps.

I hate attics with their creepy, crawling noises. My husband says it's some critter that made its way into the house. I will be thinking of this tale next time I hear something up there. Great story Dean.
