Hi, Annie. I love your Haiku and love the picture. I had no idea there was such an animal. How uninformed am I? LOL. anyway, great job and I wish you well with it in the contest. Merry Christmas. Bob
ps. I have a new chapter posted that's worth 1.18m for a couple of days if you are interested. :) Bob

There really is such an endangered type of lion which is so unfortunate as they are such regal creatures. I will try to find your chapter as I always enjoy them. Thanks for the review and enjoy the holidays. By the way the $ are incentive but I go for the creativity. Some cannot afford to promote very high so that is just a bonus.

You have presented us with a wonderful haiku on a truly regal subject. There are so many of our animals being hunted to extinction. The artwork and the words are a wonderful presentation. Best wishes for the contest.
Bless you

Thank you. I appreciate your comments. The publicity on the shooting of the lion in Africa was the stimulus for this one.

AnnieDawn,
That is an amazing photo choice and is a perfect match for your
powerful haiku entry. I particularly like your satori...would you
believe I had to look up the definition of carnage?? Nice alliteration
in that line as well.
I also found your author notes to be interesting and sad.

Thanks for reviewing and don't feel bad, there are some words that I have to look up the meaning to also.

Very nice. Did you read about the dentist who shot one of these not long ago.. so sad. Why would anyone want to kill them? Its a good poem that explores an important topic. Thanks for sharing.

You are welcome and glad you liked my poem. It was influenced by the very exposure regarding that unlawful hunt for the black maned lion. Thank you for your review.

This poem was prompted by the exposure of the illegally shot black maned lion in Africa a few months ago. The more exposeure the more protection for the species. Thank you again for your review and for the stars.

That must be something to look at, seeing a lion with black mane is a rare thing to witness. It is of course the wonder and magic of God's hand in all His creations. Thanks for sharing this short verse. God bless.

Simply stated with powerful arranged words. Rare stately lions, great imagery.
jet black fur, complete image, carnage is concealed, what lies underneath.
great little haiku
good luck in the contest

It just hit you in the right spot eh?
I did a poetic article, you might say, on the Slaughtering of the Dolphins, over in Japan. I saw a video and to this day I can still hear them crying.
Check it out, a bit of time ago so will be on another page other than the first, in my portfolio.
lulube thxs for sharing with the world.

This haiku catches so well the spirit of this very stately lion. Their image is strength and violence. But still they deserve to walk in our earth. Lovely, indeed.

Well done

I miss the significance of your satori. Is it that the blood of victims does not show on black fur? I will take that for the meaning because it make sense. If you meant otherwise by it, I do not care. Once you posted it, it means what your readers hear as well as what you intended.
