Many of us had difficult a year Tom. The new year came in and brought below zero temps to us and lots of aches and pains. We are living in a frigid zone right now looking forward to spring. LOL Wishes for the best of everything for you and your family. HNY! Nancy

I'll join you in cheerfully giving 2015 the order of the boot. FanStory and the friends I have made here are the one silver lining, but it's gone now and we can face up to 2016 with new hope.

This is an interesting sonnet form with the repeated "a" rhyme throughout and the "b" rhyme in each stanza being an appropriate form for a taxonomy of woe. The final couplet offers a chance for an optimistic change in 2016 which I know you, like me, will grab with both hands.

Bury the past year and tackle the next year with high spirits and courage to conquer what ever may be ahead of us. May all your hopes and dreams come true this year.

It's of great importance, when reflecting on the past year, to balance the ups and downs. When we do, we usually find there's more to be happy about than we thought. Wishing you a blessed and fruitful 2016.

A most interesting sonnet, Thomas. Your iambic pentameter is consistent and perfect and the rhymes as well. I think I can readily understand your pleasure in saying goodbye to 2015, after reading your author notes. It was a rough one for you and your family. I sincerely hope 2016 brings you pure contentment. Stay well and keep writing. I love your poetry. Oh, and thanks for teaching us what a Triptic sonnet is. I will have to try one now. Happy New Year! ;p

I don't know whether you should throw a welcoming party
or a Irish wake - sounds like a turbulent year, mostly worthy
of a funeral.

Then again, there certainly were triumphs worth celebrating.

May the New Year bring you more triumphs than challenges!

Treischel,

Your Triptic Sonnet is well written and sorry to hear of all of your
challenges in the previous year...Yes, let's toast to a better 2016.

Your rhymes are effortless and you were able to express yourself
well in this form. Also, congrats on winning the feelings contest.

Here's to a better new year,
Linda

Thank you for sharing such a personal story with us. For a person as me, who had considered 2015 a good year, and thus hard to let go, I tend to forget that for some people that might be a really painful one and they would like to move to the next as soon as possible.
This is the second poem written by you that I read. In both I have grasped the sentiment of optimism. This optimism is like eternal flame,or cycle without end

Treischel I have followed some of your trials for the year and I knew of some of the struggles. I had my share of trials this year too and can't say I will be sad to see it gone. I prey you and Karen will have a better year in 2016. Blessings, Patricia
