Exceptional
This work has reached the exceptional level

What a pleasure it was to read this and how lovely that you as a 17 year old had the presence to approach this woman and begin this conversation with her. I grew up on a clothesline myself, but retired the tradition when I got my own home. Sometimes it really is the little moments that bind us, not so much the big events and this recollection proves just that.

This is beautifully nostalgic, John. When I was living with Gram she refused to use anything but a clothes line, but now that I think of it, we didn't have a dryer, so I guess it all makes sense now.

I do remember the chirping of the clothesline pulleys just like it was yesterday.

What a lovely trip down memory lane, so thank you for sharing.

one small nit:
I was absorbed by her old school philosophy, gentle manor (manner)

Super job with this my friend!

some things never change, our dreams for the good old days, when things were easier, people had jobs that would support them and their families, the simple things we did that brought us pleasure, the places we could go without too much worry about weather it would be safe or not, The enjoyment we had as a family.
your poetry will always keep that idea in our heads, your words will always keep us from forgetting the 'Good old days'. Don't stop writing about them, keep them alive for us, we need those days again. I really enjoyed your words.Peg

Thank you for sharing the good old days. I really miss several things that we/I used to do. I'm afraid the children with their electronic devices are missing out on the world around them and will have few memories to cherish. Very well done.

Memories of the Good Old Days is a very nice stroll down memory lane. Everyone of us have different memories but is the reader goes through your story, they can plug their own memories in and recall the joys of yesteryear. Modern-day conveniences have replaced too many of our historical methods of getting her work done. Thanks for sharing. May God bless you!

Awesome story! What an experience into the past. I would love to relive a nice memory like that from my childhood. But, I want to know how you did in your race?! I am a runner. Great job.

    Writer, thank you for reading.

I had one of my best times in that run. It was a pizza run in Westfield, NJ.
I may do it again this year.
