I wish had more six's to give. Outstanding... About time some of us take a stand against this BS. We cannot keep killing our kids and say we are free. We are one or the other you all make your minds a few of us. It looks like that we did... Way to go Brother.

Good point, and I love the chart, for statistics talk and truth becons, stupidity reigns for those who chose to protect as silence reigns in those that would stay quiet.
Good write.
Good luck.

    Hey, RG
Good to see you. I couldn't agree more. We've got a crazy situation here. The rest of the world must be dumbfounded watching us shoot each other. Thanks a bunch, mikey

Michael,
I come from Connecticut, where Sandy Hook still haunts me. A mentally unbalanced man had access to his mother's weapons--I mean really? Your argument is both popular and unpopular. I cannot believe there are people, in this state, that are crying about having to wait to get a machine gun. Twenty children died!!
I can't go on about it. Good luck with the rant--you will get a lot of flack. I do when I talk in chatrooms about it--from Americans. People from other countries agree with me, which makes me think about moving out of USA.
I like that your essay is backed up with fact. It is very powerful when you see the numbers of deaths compared with other countries.
Thank you for caring. We need more of that and less gun hoarding.

We're totally on the same page. I didn't get too much flack. I was surprised to get a lot of support and encouraged. I think the support is there, we just need to take a stand. Thanks a million, Rasmine, much appreciated. mikey

What about starting with the police? In recent years with the terrorist threat has come the need for our police to be armed in places like airports. The average copper is unarmed. Only those who have passed certain courses are allowed to carry guns and then only in certain circumstances. We don't restrict the right to bear arms if properly licensed and the conditions under which licenses are issued are very strict.

Oh, I've got stories about the police dating back to my teen years. Believe me, I think what you're doing there makes way more sense than the utter insanity we've got going on here. It's amazing everyone can't see it. mikey

Awesome piece, Mikey! You really nailed it. I have done incredible amounts of research on this topic over the years, and I can say that your analysis and statistics are spot on.

Your point about the rights of over 17,000 children gunned down every year is particularly compelling. Gun advocates endlessly pontificate about 2nd Amendment rights, while completely ignoring the Constitutional rights of these children to live! It boggles the mind.

Your essay was powerful and informative - conveying justifiable and necessary frustration and anger, while presenting sobering and irrefutable facts and figures.

The fact that I agree with every single word in this piece, and share your sentiments and frustration, doesn't detract from the undeniable fact that this is an incredibly well-written and researched essay. Great job!

I found this hugely heart-warming. Are you really an American? (!!) The sad part of it is that it sounds as if you are spitting into the wind, with your country on the verge of electing that Trump creature as president. But then, if that happens we're all dead.

Typos/SPAGs. (Square brackets indicate suggested deletions, and asterisks, suggested insertions):

'I live in a country where the haves tell the have-nots how it's gonna be and it is so[,]*.*'

'An [interalieniable] *inalienable* right guarendamnteed by the Constitution'

Under Author Notes: 'THIS side is one no one seems [to] truly *to* want [to] simply *to* put out there (Split infinitives).

This is very eloquently stated. As a Brit, I can't see any solution for you other than no gun ownership, which works for us. Your tone and use of statistics are both very persuasive; unfortunately, people with guns kill whether intentionally or not, and if guns save lives, why does nobody in America ever shoot the gunmen dead as he starts his killing spree? I wondered whether you meant automatic firearms rather than machine guns? Certainly no-one outside of the military needs a gun which fires continuously.

Best wishes

Lisa

Hi, I can appreciate what you are saying. Everyone wants this senseless killing to stop. The problem though is we have people who are evil running around out there and they want to kill. Some of them think they will be rewarded for it. The killing doesn't always involve guns: Timothy McVey used fertilizer, in 9/11 homemade box cutter knives were made and possibly bombs, the Nazis used gas, etc. I went onto a site called Romans322.com where it tracks real time deaths in the USA in 2016. The number one death was abortion at 580,268. Cancer was third with 314,415. Medical errors were sixth at 133,617. Murder by gun was 23rd on the list at 6,107. Mass shooting came in last on the list at 34th with 15 domestic shootings and 49 radical Islamic terrorist shootings.

We are missing the whole point in this country. We don't have a gun problem, we have a sin problem. I've been watching over the last 8 years in particular and as we stray farther from God (because this country was founded on Godly principles), we are having more and more evil reign.

Interestingly, the first war we lost was the Vietnam war. That was the same year abortion was legalized. The things happening right now are being allowed to happen to wake us up! America needs to wake up! We are looking at the wrong way to fix things. Every time I hear the words gun control, I can't help but think of the Jews being marched off to their death.

AMEN!
Imagine all the money to be made in ridding the country of guns. There's a fortune in that business. Security, education, regulations, shipment, disposal, safety checks...it would mean employment for thousands for years.

The place to start is with the bullet manufacturers. Take away their candy.
