I am assuming you believe in fate, writer, or that "soul mates" do exist. I did not think I would like this story, especially when you meandered off a bit about the gay friend. But I like how you bring Don back into the story repeatedly, and I especially like your use of DIALOG to make him (and you) real for us. Your story has a lovely moral: Be true to yourself and those you love and good things WILL happen.
