I like it when people express theirs feelings and passions and I feel you express this well in your metaphoric poem, not to let the cold and dark days derail you but rather look upwards to the warmth of heaven. "Escaping winter's icy winds"... "and seek some warmth. Good imagery and a flowing free verse. Well done.

I know little about a Sijo except what the contest directions said, but you appear to have followed all the rules. You have set the scene with the changing seasons and parallel that with one lover realizing his mate has changed, too, and he should be moving on. Very well done.
