A beautiful retelling of the Christmas story with a haunting ending noting the plans sometimes gone awry in this world. Beautiful presentation also.

Dawn,

This is a very touching Christmas poem you have penned.
I must admit that your third stanza is my favorite where
you stepped away from the traditional scene and made
it very personal. Beautiful!.

Very nice ending couplet as well. This is a sonnet, no?
Hey, you will never have to worry about me critiquing
your sonnets...lol

Thank you for this wonderful Christmas gift.

Linda

Er, uh, um...no, not exactly a sonnet...LOL. It started OUT to be an Italian sonnet, BUT...you know...hahaha - by the second line that bratty muse took over and did exactly as she pleased. (*grin*).

Thank you so much for this lovely review, Linda. I'm so pleased you liked it, especially that the third stanza is your favorite - it's mine, too.

    Merry Christmas!

Yes, I think poems are better when we let our muse take over. Thanks for allowing her that freedom

Merry Christmas and a joyous and glorious New Year, Dawn;
-just like the drummer boy who had not a gift is his but just the rhythm of his drumming I have most sixes to give you a just peace and love in my heart for this miraculously written piece of poetry.
-Being written in iambic pentameter and the account of Jesus's birth was written so eloquently and with such descriptive and expressive detail.
-The enjambment flowed fluidly throughout the writing without a hiccup or a syntactical break in the reading and the writing of your poem and was completely understandable in its context and conceptual theme.
-Thank you for sharing this elegant poem and take care and have a good one with peace and love and happiness throughout the new year.

What a gorgeous Christmas poem, Dawn. You've told the story with great imagery in perfect meter and rhyme that reads so seamlessly.

A superb post that began as an Italian sonnet. HAAAAAA.

Merry Christmas to you.

Thank you for the stirring music and notes about the Scriptures that helped to inspire your sonnet. I enjoyed your retelling the Christmas story and your rhymes, plus your engagement with the weeping "star". Well done! Here's to fulfilling the "plan"!- Joan

HAHAHAHAHA! You are the first one to call me on this WILD modification - let's face it; I'd better change my notes. *grin* I started out intending to write an Italian sonnet, then modified to suit my muse, who THEN took over completely! (*smile*)

Blessings, my friend, and thank you for a lovely review. Merry Christmas to you and yours, Nancy. :)) XXOO Dawn

This is glorious in presentation and in content, Dawn. The accompanying instrumentals only add to the content and holiness felt throughout the poetry. I felt like I was in church for a minute there, but not in a preachy kind of way, more in peaceful solace. Beautiful.

A very well-written Christmas poem, about the star of Bethlehem that announces the birth of Christ to the shepherds and wise men, who acknowledged Him. We can just hope and pray that we did enough to be included in His final plan for the human race.
