That's a pretty hilarious story with a twist and still the narrator's intended result all told in fifty words! That is quite an achievement! Good use of tone in the narrator's language which really sounds like a young boy.

LOL! This is a splendid entry. You set the reader up nicely thinking it is your brother who will open the lid and then deliver a bang up ending as you were setting your brother up for punishments all along. I wish you all the best in the voting and thank you very much for sharing it.

Well, on the downside you got your father with this goofy gag instead of you brother, Dave, whom you wanted to scare half to death, and rightly so, I'm certain.
On the positive side, your dad knows a great practical joke when he sees or becomes a part of one, so he's not going to kill you, heh-heh.
