How beautiful Mr. Tony. I love the 'eyes'...that's a safety measure for moths, isn't it? I'd be leaving that window shut...moths freak me out. I love butterflies, so I don't know why this is. Just lovely, blessings...

Yes - I think you're right about the eyes. Nature has some beautiful defences! I've always rather liked moths - except those little perishers that get into the pantry and into clothing! Thanks for dropping in to review. Best wishes, Tony

Simply outstanding, Tony. I like this one from start to finish. especially here:

"and let this dreamer flutter in
to touch reality,
the flame that burns, reducing all
to grey eternity,"

Blessings, my friend. Bob

A nice write, Tony. Feather-like touches with good alliteration.
I wonder what influenced this write, was it a moment in thought or the image?
Beautiful it is.
My best wishes.
RG

Very many thanks, RG. It is always good to hear from you and your words mean a great deal. The poem came first here, although I did have this particular kind of moth in mind - they are common here and at certain times of the year two or three may be seen clinging the the window pane of a room where a light has been left on. I had to track down the image on Google.

Hi Tony. I must say this has a wonderful measure to it. The story telling had me watching and waiting on what you would do. It is a solid write using a great imagination to tell the tale. Personally, I would have liked to see the moth fly out the window. Well done you. xoxo Kiwi

The poem is such a pleasure to read, exquisitely written. Great rhyming and flow to it. The image speaks for itself. Superb. I wish I could give six. With love, Ella

Could this moth be spying on you with those eyes? You never know.
This poem flows well and shows how much nature inspires us. It also shows you keep this moth alive by not opening the window to let it come to the candle it is probably lured to.

I like the personification of the moth.

Keep writing

Thanks so much for this review, DP. I was delighted that you picked up on the metaphoric nature of the moth and its parallel - the poet! Few did! I always appreciate you dropping by. Best wishes, Tony

A reflective poetic tribute to this beautiful creature - the moth- not often the subject of poetry -a sense of reflection enhanced by the enjambment

Hello Tony:
I thought your poem was wonderful as always. I just can't help but take a moment to tell you that I once watched a moth come out of its cocoon. It still had its wings crumpled up, and it was just starting to pump its wings up. Life continues in lots of places and is a magical thing. Thanks so much for sharing this piece.
Bill~
