Love this poem! I am a tree person, too.
Could tell it's your photo - see finger. :)

Good for you for planting it on a parkway. Am sure it will thrive because it was planted with loving care.
poem addresses not only the tree, but the writer as well. Love the end!

Thank you for sharing this content entry with us. Your poem appears to fit the requirements for this poetic form. The tale told within the lines reminds us that when one tree falls, another should be planted,

Aww nice. That would definitely help with the loss for sure. I don't like when lovely old trees are cut down, but it helps if they're replaced and not just, gone.

Naani poetry is quite flexible in form, I see. As long as it contains the required 20-25 syllable, the number of lines isn't a factor. Cool.

An apple sapling
planted on the parkway
replaces the shady ash I've mourned.
Now . . . I am okay.

Naani poem have few requirements beside the max syllable count. Thanks for sharing and reviewing mine.

So sad when a favorite tree falls - as has happened so often in recent storms here in Australia - but the planting of a new one to replace it gives a marvellous sense of renewal. The trees I plant now are for future generations, which makes the act even more special.

Yes,it's hard to believe a new tree takes a full generation to mature. Thanks for sharing and your empathy.

This naani, Spiritual Revival, uses twenty-four syllables, four lines, and the cool phrases, apple sapling and planted...parkway to create this scene of arbor triumph after a woody loss. Nice.

Fabulous! Enjoyed this short piece so much. How I grieve for the loss of any tree--old or young. I've written my own lamenting poems about trees, I guess we all have. Your last line is a gem:
"Now . . . I am okay."

Thank you so much for the wonderful review and rating, but mostly for your understanding. I grieved as much for that huge ash tree that succumbed to disease as I did when my old dog recently died.

Lovely Naani poem that says so much with so few words. The art captured the essence of the words. The slight sapling contrasts the large mourning of the lost ash. That gives the poem a great flow. Now we can feel ok. Very nice job.
