Aww what a heart wrenching story. Beautiful Dog. How sad.

Animals do have an internal clock, and extra sense we humans do not possess.

Oh, all I can see now is that beautiful animal waiting for his human to come home off the bus. I'm so sorry for your losses. I know it was a long time ago, but I also know time does not heal all wounds. ((( HUGS )))

Is that picture of Roy and Dog? Beautiful. And so sad.

This is a heart-wrenching story. I am so very sorry for the loss of your son. Yes, boys and dogs just naturally seem to get on so well together. They say that dogs can't tell time, but like you, I had a dog too that would wait for my son beside the front door when school let out for lunch time and after school. She always knew when her buddy would be coming home.

Your white German Shepard was a beautiful dog, and your son was a very handsome young man. I'm glad that the dog was there to help you grieve. They can sense when their owners are upset.

This is an excellent entry for the Beautiful Creature contest. Good luck! - - Connie

This is such a poignant moving story. Dog was an incredible companion as dogs can be and it must've been dreadfully hard to lose them both. When you talked about the bus my soul was stirred. God bless, Giddy

This write touched me and created a sorrowful tightness in my stomach as I came to the end of it.

I can't imagine what it must feel like to lose a child at such a young age, just as life begins to unfold. How awful it must have been for Dog. And then to lose him ...

My heart goes out to you, dear Mother.

Best wishes for the contest.

Sonali

That's a very nice story about a dog and a family tragedy. In very sorry for you and your family. The name of the dog is great though, even though it's not original, it is because no one would do it for fear of not being original.

Thank you. I really don't know why we never gave Dog a real name. Maybe you're right, we couldn't find a name that was original enough.

Then, in 1985, tragedy struck when Roy died in a hunting accident. Of course, Dog couldn't understand where his buddy had gone to, and there was no way to tell him what happened. Dog continued to wait for the bus with hopes his pal would return. We grieved together.

Dog, and I never got over the loss of Roy. Sadly, Dog developed cancer and had to be euthanized two years after Roy's death. I still miss both of them terribly.
So sad and so touching. Amazing writing I found it SO moving kind regards Meia x

This is such a horribly sad story. I'm sorry for the loss of your son, and I'm sorry for the loss of your dog. It is told well. I was engaged from the start.

I love these dogs. They are my favorite breed, very loyal to their human companions. But it is spelled "Shepherd," as in sheep-herder.

Dog was, indeed, a beautiful creature.

What a sad but beautiful story. I am sorry for the loss of your son, Roy, and also for Dog, but I do honestly believe they are together again now. Animals have the purest of spirits, and Dog sounded like one of the best. To lose your son, I can't begin to imagine the pain you suffered, but I hope you gained peace thinking of them running in the fields in heaven together. Good luck in the contest, this was truly a story of a beautiful animal. :) Sandra xx

Dog's internal clock was amazing. Sounds like a great dog that added a lot to Roy's life. How tragic that you lost Roy. I can't imagine how awful that was.
