This is a very smart young boy to know not to let this man talk to his mother. . He kept the guy talking until his mom came and told him to hang up.
This does show how funny and intelligent kids can be.

thank you for sharing your entry in the dialogue only contest. I imagine that a call from a stranger would have set my son off like this. He hated it when salesmen called.

Lol! That's so clever. I think you got exactly what a little boy would say, the kind of typical distractions like "burping out a whole sentence." Good for him for hanging up. I also like that you gave us the context ahead of time in the bar conversation.

I like the way you have structured it: the (ethically-challenged) protagonist is only speaking with one person at a time; it's easy to keep track of who's saying what.
