This is a very smart young boy to know not to let this man talk to his mother. . He kept the guy talking until his mom came and told him to hang up.
This does show how funny and intelligent kids can be.

Congrats on placing third in the contest.

Keep writing

Hey, you're good at this.
It's a nice story. It keeps the reader guessing and it's believable.
Good to see a kid enjoying an activity that doesn't wear out his fingers.
Good luck!
Marv

thank you for sharing your entry in the dialogue only contest. I imagine that a call from a stranger would have set my son off like this. He hated it when salesmen called.

Good luck in the contest,

~patty~

Lol! That's so clever. I think you got exactly what a little boy would say, the kind of typical distractions like "burping out a whole sentence." Good for him for hanging up. I also like that you gave us the context ahead of time in the bar conversation.

Absolutely adorable. Utterly charming. This little boy Danny is a genius to keep all those "mens" away from his mom (lol). Fantastic use of a dialogue. Witty, entertaining and keeps you on the edge of your chair. You have a lot of talent.

I wish you luck in the contest if it's still running.

Grand job.

Your story is clever, and an excellent entry into the "Dialog Only Writing Contest." I think this story will be hard to beat. I like the way you have structured it: the (ethically-challenged) protagonist is only speaking with one person at a time; it's easy to keep track of who's saying what. The characters are all believable, and the little one made me smile. Margaret

It just goes to show, one shouldn't chat up somebody's wife, and mum, in the store...now should they? I think things could have gone for our friendly neighbourhood lecher, but I'm glad they didn't, heheh. Excellent entry in this contest, the dialogue was great, quite intuitive and imaginative, well done. Good luck, blessings, Roy

Wow, this was funny. He should have given Danny another try, and maybe he would have spoken to the mother.
