This was a touching, beautiful poem, written as a letter. You really deserved that win, it was incredible. I miss my mum and wish every day that she was still alive. I have my memories, like you. Well done, and congratulations. :)) Sandra xx

A very well-written letter to your mom and the great times you had together when you were five. It doesn't matter how long ago these things happen it will always be remembered as previous memories.

This work has reached the exceptional level

This poem to someone missed, A Letter to My Mom, contains those unique images that show a loving mother making ends meet as she provides a home and a loving environment for a impressionable child. The occasional rhyme within the sentimental text keeps the poetic nature of the piece in mind. I think there's something in my eye.

This is a lovely poem. It is so sweet and tender. I don't know why I thought you were English till I read Chicago (must have been Woolworths and the cucumber sandwiches).
I like the repeated line.
Good luck in the contest.

Thank you for your kind review. My mom raised me like she was raised...with afternoon tea, cucumber sandwiches and bubble and squeak( which is an English dish comprised of just about any leftovers you might have). She was from England and married my dad, an American solider during WW2, and came to America on the Queen Mary after the war.

What a sentimentally sweet and well composed tribute to your dear mother, Anonymous Poet
Usually I find poetry formatted in this manner quite difficult to follow, but not this.
This, I followed easily and enjoyed every word in doing so.
A fabulous ode to motherhood, childhood, and their unconditional love.

Thank you. I don't think a day goes by when I don't think about my mom,or see things that remind me of her.

This is a lovely entry for the Write A Letter To Someone You Miss contest. I could feel the tenderness and the missing of times with your mother. Such beautiful memories to be treasured.

I did note a couple of tiny punctuation edits, if I may - shown in ( ) The extra comma is not necessary in these lines.

- "we'd have to run() to catch our bus that just went by, we'd climb on board and catch our breath."

- "I miss your cucumber sandwiches() sliced thin and carefully cut() in little triangles, perfect bite size, we quickly ate them up."

- "You made me feel I was as special() as any girl could ever be."

Also, another comment on the start of the letter - Mom,

It seems a bit cold or brief. If I were to write to my mom I would start it Dearest Mom or Dear Mom.
Just food for thought. Thank you for sharing and best of luck in the competition. ~DD

Thank you so much for your review and advice. I tend to use a lot of comma's, I not sure why. I'll definitely correct those errors. I really appreciate the feedback, it really does help.Thanks.

This speaks the letter to Mom stating how much the writer misses his mom and her unconditional love, the times, the moments, the caring, the words; I liked.

A lovely letter to your Mum. The only thing I would suggest that you present it like a poem, which it certainly is. You could name the poem 'When I was five' I really enjoyed the way you repeated that phrase We all miss our Mums.

Thank you for taking time to read my poem. I wrote it in letter form, because the prompt said to write a letter to someone you miss so I thought this would be the best way to go. I'm glad you liked it, its always great to hear from other writers.

Sweet and very touching. Returning to the "when I was only five" gave the reading a lovely pause. The phrase tied the words together so well. Nice work. Good luck with the contest.
