Nice to see this. Sure is man's best friend. I am sure the hedgehog was fine...they are often still when feeling threatened.

I want a zoo. No, seriously I might have every animal if I knew I wouldn't get hurt. When I had my dog she use to just try to play with everything. She never wanted to hurt them but everything just saw her running towards them and thought she was trying to attack them so they ran. If only different animals could read each others minds.

This is a cute photo of Smokey with the hedgehog. I don't know if we have them here. I've never seen one. My dogs are like your Smokey--spoiled rotten, but that's okay. They deserve it. A nice animal story. Marilyn

Cute curiosity, and common for dogs I would guess. Seems he had quite a
time. Interesting too that Smokey gets along with deer...so much bigger
than he is. Nice thought, and good for both.
Seems all of you spoil each other about equally...LOL...

Many of the teachers at the elementary school I teach at have pet hedgehogs. The kids love them. I have too many pets at home to add a hedgehog. LOL I enjoyed reading.

At lease he did not attack it, they are very unique and docile animals. Dogs seem to realize that though. I have never been a dog person but I can tell your love by your writing

A very well-written short story about your dog Smokey's very curious nature. He will chase everything that moves even when it is above his abilities. My daughter's cat is also Smokey.
