Hi, Tom;
I think you did a great job of honoring the troops who came home with horrible memories filling their heads. The soldiers returning home from the present wars have memories, brain damage, and a difficult return to the civilian life; we need to remember all of them in our prayers,

This speaks words dedicated to the soldiers messed up from all wars, futile or not, and the honour is levied thereby as if they all are alive; I like. DR ALCREATOR

now THIS one is exceptionally brilliant and poignant and sad ... I feel so strong that men that have been through war should have the sweet souls of men like you to listen, perhaps just listen to what their stories are and alleviate some of the soul scorching pain within. I'm old enough to just remember Viet Nam. I was finishing high school and was just a tad too young for Woodstock but, I remember vividly how bad I used to feel for our men and women coming home after that war. A wonderful job with this one. Bravo! xoxo deborah

A very well-written poem about war and the aftermath the survivors have to deal with for the rest of their lives. I often think about it that the ones who died are the lucky ones. They never have to relive the horrors over and over again.

WOW, Tom! I'm in tears. Your words are poignant & so true for so many. Although I've never served, I could 'see' your well-chosen words as you described the anguish these brave soldiers face after returning home. [I have read about it & seen documentaries, but I don't wish to be a know it all here]. I respect all soldiers for doing what so many will never do or understand the lasting effects on those that made it back. Bless you for helping those in the hospital & for writing this poem of tribute. Jan

AWESOME BEAUTIFUL! Let's call you the "Soldier's Poet," ok? Love the way you tell of pain and sorrow in your ending rhyme scheme, of hopes and dreams. Such tragedies blood and gore of war and battles. WELL DONE. truly, liberty justice

This poem, Ghosts, touches on all of our broken heroes who have returned from war and lived with it since. The scars of a war zone, the hatred from your own country, the lack of support from even fellow military veterans, had cut deeper than any enemy bayonet. I good reminder that we can't let any more suffer like that.

Hello easyeverett
First I like your use of homophones
in your poem ex. breeze, ease, peace. To me it shows the reader of the feelings of whom I call heroes who are in need for one like to hear as you said in your notes
were trapped by their memories and dreams.

This is not only a tribute to the fallen...... living and dead, for in truth they are the same, but it is in a way a medal of honor in words. Words that peel away the sounds of complacency in a world of forgetfulness and puts forth the voice of silenced men....... hero's all.

Thank you my man for writing this. Great job.

This is a commendable piece of literary achievement. The education, to those that have never lived the nightmare, comes through these words. You mastered, with skill unsurpassed, to define the horrors and the aftermath consequences of Viet Nam. My husband served in Viet Nam and I know firsthand that he lives that horror in dreams even when awake. Thank you for sharing this so eloquently.
Fan Friend,
Brigitte
