Writing is often catharsis for us. It allows us to understand ourselves and sometimes the world around us. Freeing our memories can make us stronger. This is a nicely done free verse poem with well chose line and stanza breaks.
Congrats on placing in the contest

Beautiful and so true...I find writing clarifies my thoughts that before they are written down are a messy jumble
You coined it...the pen has life

I think this is a good entry for the Free Verse writing prompt.
Writing your verse about why your write is clever.
Well done and good luck to you with the competition.

thank you so much. This felt good to express and made me feel understood.

Judy, what a open, honest poem. It is so well expressed. I live separated from my thoughts. I know exactly what you are writing about. I'm not yet as brave as you. I write around my thoughts rather than let them out to heal. Maybe some day I'll give my pen a better life. Hats off to you. You write beautifully.

Debbie I so appreciate your beautiful review. Your pen will have life soon, because writing makes us become honest. You made my day.

Hello Judy, what a great free verse poem for the contest, and best of luck with this well-written entry. I like that you aren't bound to form and experiment in placing the words on the page/screen, it gave your poem a very unique style which I enjoyed very much. I have no suggestions for making your poem better, and I liked finding out about you and what makes you write. I sometimes call it 'writing and other forms of insanity', LOL
Feels like that sometimes, and have a great day/night, Ana :)

I admired your courage to write this very personal, free verse poem. I am pleased you have discovered that the "pen has life". Here's to reaching "for a ray of sunshine" by writing. Cheers and I hope this poem was well received in the contest- Joan

Thank you so much Joan. Writing is so freeing when we edit it for grammar but not content. Then we find out who we really are. Thank you so much for caring.
