The shrew should have quit while he was ahead. Got to cocky, and the cat caught him.
I love the rhyming and the wording. It certainly gave me a laugh.

This was cute and a lot of fun to read. I never knew about a shrew. I definitely didn't know that they were this tough. Poor bird. I bet he regrets that. The end was kind of wrong though. The shrew went through all of that only to get ate by the cat. That's harsh. I like it! Well done sir.

hehehehe, yeah, and so the world goes around. The cat will end up eating the screw and make a much better job out of it. There would have been nothing left for a start. I loved your poem. All the best. Ulla:)))

The positively bloody word of animals. It's cockatoo eat shrew world. Glad the shrew cam to the cat's attention. The cat would certainly be better able to dispose of the shrew. Clever rhyme and humor despite the bloodthirsty storyline. Love that the bird's last words were "That's all there is there ain't no more" instead of the traditional "Nevermore." A fun piece. judi

LOL! I lovvve it. Verrry clever and a lot of fun. That's shrew in the pic is tiny. I never knew they were as small as mice. SHREW sounds big and frightening. I like it's pointy little nose. It looks too cute to be named SHREW, as if it's mean. Though it sure is in your poem. :)

A zig and zagging in its gut
then horrid gas shot out its butt
its breast split open and out jut
a shrewish head from that rude cut.
I can picture this.

Lol! Lots of chuckles here. Poor cockatoo! But I agree that only a cat will do. But cats often don't eat the mice and shrews. They bat it around and tire it out and bring it to you as a gift and you're still stuck with the shrew removing job.

That?s the difference between a ?mouser?, which is basically dependent on living food, and a house cat, who knows you?ll feed it eventually. Now, talking shrews is another thing.
