A very well-written sestina and an excellent love poem of a true love that stood the time to the end in sickness and health. The one remembers well while the other one has forget the times in fields with forget-me-nots.

I love the storyline, if you will, of how you wrote of the woman's memory. Someone goes through something similar almost every day in this world because of someone losing their memory. great poem. Thanks for sharing.

Hi - This is very long and I enjoyed every bit of it. A very moving, well written account of someone with Alzheimer's. The protagonist tells the story with much feeling. I loved the ending - for a fleeting moment the memory returns and the woman mutters 'I will' - is she accepting the marriage proposal made so long ago?. We are not told but the way the words evolve in this poem, I'm pretty sure she is. A good story of a love that has withstood the test of time and trial. Very well done - good luck in the contest. Sestinas are long; of that I am certain. But I love the challenge of penning them and the stories they have the ability to weave...

Sestina-wow, I had never heard of this type of poetry. It is very posaic but does not suffer for that. It is quite brilliant though as I said more to me like prose than a poem. Thankyou for educating me with this new form and fabulous writing kindest regards Meia xx

There is a prose-like quality to sestinas as they tell a story with six chosen words repeated throughout the offering. One of these days, I am going to attempt one that comes out short and sweet!

It was not a contest bt it was a labor of love and I'd love the opinion of one who has in my opinion mastered the form as evidenced above.
I am smitten with this poem. My dear Memere' dies of Alzheimer's at 98...I was a nurse for thirty years specializing in dementia and Alzheimer's care...
There is a poignant melancholy bt ultimately victorious tone to your poem that
personifies what I have witnessed (not often enough) between two who shared a very different life and one, but one, who recalls it in full...
Nancy Reagan calls Alzheimer's "The Long Goodbye" and it is....
To write a love poem, not use the obvious cliche words and CHOOSE the Sestina as your form...and then (oh beauitful writer of dreams and heaven) to make that love poem abouta couple dealing with Alzheimer's (for both are afflicted though one is diagnosed)---
This is special. This is very very special.
