Hello Mystery Poet,
You evoke wonderful imagery and memories in this poem. What a terrific keepsake of your dad - his hat and a poem about it. Your poem made me think of my brother. I was always excited to see his boots at the door telling me he arrived for a visit when I was sleeping. I don't have his boots like you have your dad's hat, but that is a huge memory of him for me.
This is a fine entry in the contest.
Sincerely Joy xx

Not normally a great fan of free verse poetry, but I have to comment on this because this was very much the exception, I liked it. It is a great piece of writing and I wish you well in the contest.

Excellent Poem! The author's words are heartfelt, strong and creative.
The reader found this poem to bring back memories of much of the past.
I really liked the simple artwork the author used to compliment both
the theme and words of this poem.

Well, of those I have read, you are the winner in my mind. Sometimes an old object can be that important tangible reminder for us. You reminded me of my own Dad, whose hat was different but still the same great kind of man. Emotion makes a poem in my estimation.

Hello,
This is a really good poem. It reminds me of my Uncle Teddy. When he passed away, my aunt and cousins kept his cap hanging on the curtain rod. Wonder where it is now.
Good luck in the contest.

This one made me cry. The best poems do inspire that kind of emotion, you know it. This made me think of my own father and well, you nailed it here, in my personal opinion. This is classy. This is creative. This should be framed and hanging in your room by the fedora. Great job and Good Luck. Unique and Fine.

A man's hat. A fedora. Are you aware of the contest where you write a poem from the standpoint of an inanimate object. You could have used the fedora. This is well written free verse. Good luck in the contest. Thank you for sharing

Beautifully brilliant, Anonymous Poet
If this doesn't win the contest--or at least place very highly--then I KNOW beyond a shadow of a doubt that the voters here at FanStory are just plain crazy -- which I already suspect is the case.
You certainly have my vote.
Best of luck.
