Hello, a very good free verse poem from the prompt. I liked it very much and best of luck with this lovely verse. I like the way your father's hat has come to symbolize him and the things he did and enjoyed. I have no errors and would recommend this to others for review, Ana.

An excellent free-verse about a cherished possession which helps to maintain the memory of a cherished loved one.
The narrative is all I think it should be, with the words flowing easily.
Free verse is not my strong point, so I'd be searching for "wise" things to say. But I did pick up on a very pleasing using of alliterations with the Cs towards the end there.
Your description of the activities enjoyed by your father paints a lovely picture of the one you describe as a "gentle, smiling man". A particularly strong ending in the last two lines.
Very well done,
Craig

What a heartfelt piece in memory of the father and the grandfather that wore that special brim hat. I have an old pink duster that I keep of my moms and every time I run across it I have so many fund memories. Thanks for sharing It so rich in sentiments of a dear loved one. thanks for sharing

A symbol of a well-loved man is front and center with photos of a close family. You've drawn a picture of a gentle, smiling man who must have enjoyed the simple pleasures of life with his daughter and grandson. Well written. Good luck with the contest.

Yes little things, simple objects and much more will remind us of how things used to be. The symbols of love, caring, connections and comfort can bring memories of peace and quiet to those who will remember them. Thanks for sharing this beautiful free verse. Very well done.

This is absolutely beautiful! So well-written and it tells such a story of love for someone who is no longer around. It shares how something, in this case the hat, is a constant reminder and all the memories it brings. Best wishes in the contest. It's a winner!

Excellent free verse honorarium to your Father, through the image and memories of his beloved Fedora....means so much to me as my own Dad sported one day in and day out....it was the fashion of the day, but that was not it...it was the gentleman and gentle man who wore it, the brilliance beneath it, that made it so special...and I was transported there once more with your well penned poem.

Hello Friend,
Thank you so much for your excellent rating and heartfelt review.
I simply cannot remember a time my father didn't wear his hat. I treasure three items from his passing: his cane, an outdoor broom, and of course, his hat. Yes, I have many other mementos and items, but those three mean the most to me...
I am so very pleased my poem resonated with you...

Add a pipe with the faint lasting aroma of cherry tobacco and you've got my Dad....Karenina
-
Love it!
I always wished my father smoked a pipe!
Here's to wonderful memories!
-
Here's to great Dad's worthy of them...and the mutual blessings we both experienced....when so many have no Dad at all in their lives....K

Absolutely!
