Wish I had six stars to share with you today. This poem takes the reader on a journey of generations of love through the beauty of a hat worn by someone so loved. I like that the story of the hat explains what it means to each person who views it. Grief and loss are so profound. Beautiful job and a wonderful entry for this contest.

Your poem is a wonderful free verse entry, the words flow, while the emotion comes through. It tugs at the heart strings, is easy to relate to. Your entry shines above the rest. The picture ties it all together. Your entire presentation gets a thumbs up. Thanks for sharing.

I love this, it reminds me of my grandfather , he also wore a fedora. I had saved his and it disappeared one day. Your poem brings back memories , very cherished memories. Thanks for sharing.

Absolute beautiful tribute to a man who was obviously loved by his family. The fedora is the symbol of all the good times you shared together. If only the world had more of these ties that bind, it wouldn't be such a fractured and lonely place. Well done.

This is beautiful, sad, touching true. We all have some objects, and memories that we hold on too in an effort keep our loved ones near.

A poignant metaphorical remembrance of a deceased father and his favourite Fedora symbolising the activities he loved -a man who brought solace and made the world a better place....free verse format conveys a sense of stream of consciousness reflection

beautiful, Unknown. it is amazing that an inanimate object can carry a soul for so long. I love the pace of your verse and really like the circle you paint. my Dad's was a "Pancake Hat" and it sits proudly on his urn. some have said it's disrespectful but I can't hear them. wonderful poem.

My dad's generation always wore hats, it seems.
I love the thought of where you placed your father's "pancake hat!"

This lovely poem about your fathers/grandfathers hat made me well up with tears. It isn't the hat itself but the memories it brings forth that matter. When my dad died I keep his favorite shirt...it had his smell on it. I think this is a wonderful entry for the contest. Thanks for sharing.

That was extremely well done. A brilliant trip down the memory lane, top drawer free verse that brings tears to a reader's eyes. The Fedora has been sitting idle for quite some years, bringing memories.
His grandfather's hat
Her father's fedora
For both now,
a tangible connection:
Reassurance
Reflection
Remembrance
of a lifetime filled
with treasured memories
Fantastic. You really moved me. Best of luck in the contest.
