Great rhyming scheme and unique gesture... To be honest, for a moment there I thought to myself, "but what's up with the caption" but after getting halfway into the poetry, I realised the connection. It's the best possible caption for this poetry. So real.

A very well-written free verse poem. The smallest item of a beloved deceased always bring forth the best of memories. There are always something to take us back to the times together.

What a skillful evocation of certain aspects of loss. A simple and powerful image. Yes, we do keep things. My son wears his father's old watch cap--it this point, it's nearly in shreds. My husband's flannel shirt sits at the back of my closet, though I have been a widow these 25 years. I enjoyed this read.

When I read works like this, I wonder why I bother to write poetry. Your poem is worthy. It set me to crying. The fedora is symbolic of a generation of strong, honorable men. Your careful words do them justice.

Hello Debbie,
I've wanted to write a poem about my father's fedora for years. It sits on the top of a desk/cabinet in my husband's study. But I often hang in from the side corner of a photograph of my parents...both now deceased. For a long time, my father's hat held his scent, but no longer... How I often wish my father was still here...
I am honored by your exceptional rating and thoughtful review. I am pleased that my words resonated with you, but no tears...

My dad wore a hat like that.
