I think that you've summed up this condition in so few words beautifully. This disease is indeed a thief of cherished memories held so dear. Thanks for sharing this well written poem. Well done and good luck in the contest!

I think this is a good entry for the 1-6-1 Poetry writing prompt.
Your short verse tells truly of the tragedy of Alzheimer's.
Well done and good luck to you with this one in the competition.

This is a good entry for the contest. My husband's mother had Alzheimer's and he may be leaning that way. Not sure if my dad had it or not because he also had a major stroke

I believe your one=six-one poem on Alzheimer's just doesn't steal from the person with the condition but also from the off spring who fear what will happen to them as they get older. A very poignant expression you have here. Good luck.

Wonderful topic for this poem. Your word choices are good in describing the pain of Alzheimer's disease. Your lines all rhyme and flow, as well. This is a solid 1-6-1 poem and it's a perfect entry for this contest. Good luck to you.

The tragedy of Alzheimer's as it steals our brain and leaves us in grief. Steals our memory and our family. I wish there was a cure, I wish you luck with the contest, your words resonate deep, love Dolly x

    Hello Friend,
My mother suffered from dementia; I do not believe her dementia was ever classified as Alzheimer's, but it was horrific to watch as the disease stole her from us in "bits and pieces." I do not fear death, but I do fear Alzheimer's...
Thank you for your excellent rating and thoughtful review...

Short and bitter sweet. The problem, at the onset they know. The appointments and the preliminary tests. Then the deterioration and despair. Then they don't know who you are. There's no respite. Their memories locked up in those knots. Good poem.

    Hello Henry!
Thank you for your excellent rating and thoughtful review...
Alzheimer's is devastating; that is for certain.
And there is, as you write, "no respite."
It truly is a crime of bits and pieces...

This is something I don't want to experience or what a loved one go through but sadly it's a thing that affects many people. All we can do is deal with it and hope one day there is a cure.
