I really enjoyed reading this. I could picture the scene and how Mugs was feeling. My favorite line was "Is the hurt in my eyes ever going to go away?" Oh, we all know that feeling and the answer was perfect. Thank you!

This is an amazing dialogue between adult and child about a pet's death. It really captured the emotion you intended. Great job! It flows well and is very well written.

Awe, that's beautiful, and beautifully written. You brought tears to my eyes, you really did. I'd had a few similar conversations with my daughter when she was young when we lost a beloved pet. I enjoyed your dialogue only a lot, and good luck in the contest. All the best. Ulla:)))

Hello Ulla,
I am so honored by your exceptional rating and thoughtful review.
Gus was such a huge part of our lives, and Morgan and he had a very strong bond.
Thank you again!

How sweet. With a dialogue only contest shouldn't there be speech marks?
I loved this to and fro about a beloved pet. The picture was just perfect too
God bless...and good luck

Hello Friend,
Thank you for your excellent rating and complimentary review.
The prompt specified no speech marks; thus, I left them out.

This is a very cute and sweet little story. A dog is truly also a boy's best friend. I like how you got right there in the mind of a child and expressed his concerns just like he would. I enjoyed reading this well written poem. Well done Mrs. KT!

This is a very sweet dialogue. Sad, but uplifting as it relates the compassion and love a mother shows for her son. His grief will morph into compassion for his own children because of the gentle, thoughtful way she handled this delicate situation. Experiences of loss have lasting effects. Children without the proper guidance grow up unprepared and unable to process grief in a healthy way. So, what seems like a simple act of motherly love will be hugely important in shaping the boy's future relationships.
Beautifully written, and a wonderful entry to the dialogue only prompt.

Hello E. B.!
This conversation actually took place between my son and me. I glanced out of our daughter's upstairs bedroom, and I saw Morgan sitting by the newly dug grave in our woods. He was sitting cross-legged, with his elbows on his knees and his head in his hands. So forlorn. We all loved our golden retriever, Gus, but Morgan and he had a special bond.
Thank you for your excellent rating and thoughtful review!

Hi, Diane;
This broke my heart a bit. My grand-nephews just lost the dog they all grew up with. Marley had been the dog of the house before any of them were born. So, the boys, 13, 8 and 6 had to say goodbye, and then they took his ashes to the ocean because that was his favorite place.
Thank you for sharing and good luck in the contest,
~patty~

Aw...a very sweet and heartfelt story. It flowed so naturally, even though the subject was tender and sad. I liked that it felt so honest and real. That's why I love non-fiction! It's so emotional! What a great entry for the dialogue writing contest. Good luck to you!

Awww. Very sweet and such an articulate little boy. Most young boys don't know how to put their feelings and thoughts into words. What a precious moment for mother and son. Well done!

Hi there. This seems like a good entry for the contest. That dog kind of looks like Old Yeller. There is a reason why dogs are called man's or boy's best friend. Loyal to the end. Nice work. Good luck in the contest. Thank you for sharing
