This sixty-word story, The Champ, is definitely aimed at me. I never realized, when I entered egg and spoon racing, that such glory was even attainable. Thank you.

Ninety and still racing. That has to be a record in itself. And it does take a steady had to not drop that egg so William is certainly deserving.

You've done a great job telling a complete story in a few words, and making it interesting and fun to read as well.

Cute Jen. Not sure how I missed this. I must have accidentally deleted the notification. Sorry. Good luck in the contest. Thank you for sharing. I can just see those ninety year olds in an egg and spoon race.

Thanks Pam. You probably missed it as it was a blind entry to the competition. Cheers Jen.

It is a complete story and it is well written and as of some of the others I have read the last line is the clincher, the finisher and the final say. Well done and certainly a good entry into the contest.

Wow! I didn't see that ending at all! Great job of writing a complete story in sixty words. I commend you on the surprise ending! Good job and thanks for sharing!

LOL! I must say I expected a different ending. LOL! But we do what we can. I might even take third place in a downhill wheelchair race some day.

By the way, "well deserved" does not need a hyphen because "well" is an adverb here. Hyphens are used to connect adjectives.

Hi thanks a lot Phyllis. I thought that about the hyphen. It was Giraffemag that told me to put one in. Obviously he doesn't know everything.(but more than me).

I just looked it up. From the rules, which are being more and more ignored as English grammar is no longer taught in most schools (for nearly three decades now!), are being forgotten, so both are acceptable now.

Once, an adverb (such as WELL) did not take a hyphen when in front of an adjective. Only adjective-adjective pairs did. Now, it seems many sources say to put in the hyphen. So go ahead and use it. Can't say how the rule got confused, but it is now either the new rule or about to become the new rule. Progress backwards... that's what we have now. :)

Excellent piece. Cute twist at the end. I was trying to figure it out but you surprised me. As we boomers get older this is something we can relate to. Good pacing and word selection. Very nicely done.

Congratulation, you have what other wish for... a pat on the back... as a champion you must know that the honor that this holds for you is that if you scramble those eggs we can make a cake and I'll help you eat it. Good funny entry for the 60 Word Dash contest.

This certainly tells a complete story LOL. Love it. I'm not over 90 (yet) but I don't think I could ever win a spoon and egg race. He deserves the trophy. Good luck with this.
