Very nice, Tony. This is a gorgeous love poem, and a great tribute to Rodin's The Kiss. Nice work-in of the word Carillons on line 5. You have such a gift with English and have used that gift well here. Great flow, cadence and meter.

I am inspired, not only by the photo of the statue but, with your poem. The elegant way you write this piece, is by far as good an example, as I have ever seen, for describing an art form, and how it affects a couple in love. The choice of words is great and so are the rhymes. I notice your rhymes are of the 'Aussie' vernacular. This is very clever the way you turn your gaze of the statue, to the couple in love, embracing intertwined. The last two lines are my favorite though. "As art unites with life, expressing bliss, true meaning is renewed in Rodin's Kiss." I can't think of a better ending, with more insights, than this. Thank you for sharing your talent.

Nicely written sonnet about the pictured sculpture. It shows how love can be a moment in time and timeless at the same time. Osculiate is a very fancy word to mean kiss that I haven't seen before.

An awesome poem, Tony. We all know this statue, but you managed to bring new life and imagination into the imagery of the lovers. I especially liked the ending as a couple become transfixed by the emotion in the statue, and could relate the beauty in their love. I've learned to be careful giving names to forms, since I scurrilously referred to a 14 line ABAB poem in iambic pentameter with a couplet at the end as a sonnet once, and was given a good old dressing-down for doing so. So, whether this is a sonnet or not, it's a very fine piece of poetry. If it were a sonnet, I would say the meter and rhyme are flawless. Your trip has certainly been an inspiration for some great work, Tony. Are you back home now? Well done, Craig

Thanks, Craig. I know what you mean! This was meant to be a sonnet, but if I?d said so, I?d have had an swarm of comments about the slant rhyme. I got quite a few anyway. I?m sitting in Charles de Gaulle airport at the moment awaiting the flight home via Helsinki, Singapore and Melbourne to Adelaide. Should be home Friday morning.
