A well done acrostic poem with good use of rhyme telling a memorable story of dear grandma. As we get older, it seems we always wish to go back to those good ole days when we remember life being easier and people being happier.

I really love the tone and theme of your poem, Ida. You've captured the essence of the good old days, that were a lot of backbreaking work and also heartbreaks but there was a certain something that had appeal that we are missing today.

I can't help but vote against myself sometimes, as I too am entered into this contest. You earned those stars and then some. Your poem is simply wonderful. Your story is true for many of us looking back on our memories of our grandparents, family, friends or neighbors. Your rhyme flow is fluid throughout and this piece is so moving.

Excellent acrostic poem. I love the image chosen for this piece. It suits the words you wrote about your grandma. The flow and rhymes are good. I might suggest that the second line in the third stanza, be phrased a different way, yet saying the same sentiment. The flow of "but I know now it wasn't so." justs needs a little adjustment. Otherwise, the poem and its message are wonderful and historical, all in the same vein. I like the message in the last stanza, where you say that, even though times were rough, you'd go back to the 'good ole days' anyway. This was an enjoyable read, and thank you for taking me back in history.

A beautiful composition that flows so easily from beginning to end.....never loses that 'lazy river' meandering while painting wonderful images in black and white as suggested by your chosen pic -just great!! :) :) Just a few grammatical catches below; otherwise, thank you for sharing and good luck in the contest! :)

This is a very beautifully written poem, and I never noticed it's also acrostic until I read the note at the bottom. It flows beautifully, no jarring or forced sounding lines. This is a winner for sure!
