Congratulations on winning the contest :) I find the etheree poems are tough to write. You have done a fine job of combining the correct syllables in each line with a lovely story. Who can resist a poem about the Serengeti? Not me. Well done.

Thank you, Joy, for your supportive and encouraging comments! After two years I finally managed to write an etheree that made sense and didn't sound like a child wrote it...

The dwindling structure of the poem parallels the dwindling images of the Serengeti as the sun goes down and the light fades, and the harsh features of the plain become bathed in darkness and a sense of peace. Beautifully described.

I have never been to Africa but my sister said it was beautiful in a spectacular way... your poem captured that
