Very good the way this has been done and at the right time, we are now descending into Autumn and that chill is in the air, falling snow, please wait a little while - enjoyed the pun

Don't remind me! Winter will soon be upon us, and while it has a beauty all it's own, I'll miss summer. I liked this a lot...your presentation, the colors used, the terrific picture you chose all set the fall tone.I like the repetition of the word falling, kind of a reference to the season. Thanks for sharing.

I appreciate the read and the review, Boogie -- I am so ready for cooler weather! ;) :) Cooler weather...not cold - hate winter (just can't please a woman, I suppose!)! Actually don't mind the summer so much, just a little break from the 'skeeters would be nice once in a while! :) ;) Thanx for stopping in and have a wonderful weekend filled with fresh airy evenings and night-time starlight! :) :) :) Yvette

I am with you on this one. Summer is not my favorite time of year either. I barely made it through the hot & humid days of July and August. But I think we've turned the corner here in southern New Brunswick. The air always changes for the beginning of the next school year. And I love the Fall. The artwork you've chosen to accompany your 5-7-5 Nature poem is perfect. I can dress for the cold, but there's only so many clothes you can take off in the summer to pretend relief.
I'm not sure about the repetition of "falling" in each line, but I like the idea of cooler temps. I guess you are going for falling leaves, falling temperatures, and falling snow as winter makes his final approach. It works.
Good Luck in the contest! The syllable count is correct, and you cleaned up on nature.
cheers
Kimbob

A very well-written poem for a nature 5-7-5 and the feeling of fall is emphasize with the falling of the leaves and the falling temperatures and the falling of snow until winter comes to end.

Great dancing photo of the couple and the falling leaves.
We are having cooler mornings and evenings with leaves
falling. It's too soooooonnn for fall. The Minneapolis State
Fair is on Monday and school is starting soon. I'm not ready
for snow. Come over for some apple rhubard crisp and hot
tea. ********* flylikeaneagle

Thanx for the invite, Nancy - would absolutely love to take you up on it! :) ;) Hot tea with just a touch of cream and sugar is my favorite (although I know not a whole lot of folks like cream in their tea..). :) :) Y'all will get snow LONG before us (if we get it at all)....I'm just glad the mornings are slightly cooler 'round here. :) ;) Thanx for dropping by (even though you might not have known it was me) and have a lovely Friday evening! :) ;) :)

YM: I so loved your poem - dance by the river -
yes, congrats. Tea with cream is fine by us. I'll try almond milk, too.

Annie started college on Monday. She so is glad that the alegebra professor has a lab to help the students understand the problems. She has art, history, and literature. Monica helps youth with autism. She likes poetry. Yes, bragging...Mom chatter on my daughters. I'm trying to update their bedroom for my writing room. I'm in Minnesota. My daughters are in Colorado.

Are you glad to have a break from teaching? Congrats on your novels being published. Did you self publish or have someone buy your books? I'm learning and have written three NaNoWriMo. In November, I will try to rewrite these three into one novel. The settings are in Colorado. I'm studying "The 5 Day Novel," by Scott King.

Yep, both the boys are back off to school (Ben in college, Nick at law school) and my teaching's started back up (Part-time, thank goodness - I cannot imagine going back to full-time parent management). Still got my Sheridan at home -- the baby that's now over six feet (reaching up to hug him is kinda fun though -- guess when I start "shrinking" it'll be one of those caricature mom/son visuals!)

Tell Monica I teach a lot of her special angels -- ever since I have focused my instruction on home-school students (advanced math teachers of Algebra 1 up through Calculus are in high-demand in the homeschool realm and I set the class schedule so it's really nice) I have a preponderance of them as the public system just really isn't a good fit for them.... wouldn't trade any of them - so preciously unique!! - but there are days that my poor eyes could use a translator with some of that handwriting...whew!!! :) :) :)

Wrote the novels when I was still full time teacher which slowly morphed into full time parent management and lost its appeal .... they were my 'escape' from the stress, I suppose. Self-published which I will not be able to do with this next one since it's not cheap...c'est la vie! :) :)

Oh, and I'm wa-a-a-ay down here in the South in Alabama....Ben's in Mississippi and Nick is at UA. :) Good to touch base - save me a piece of that pie...would love to have some!!! :) ;)

Hi There

I am loving these fall 5-7-5's for this contest. This is an excellent entry. Being from New England we know all about the snow that comes quickly after the fall leaves us.

Good luck in the contest

Sounds like a fair trade-off to me--summer's sweltering temperatures for fall's cooler climes.
Autumn is my favorite season of the year, bar none.
Your syllable count is good and there are lots of references to fall and falling (as in autumn, I take it?)
Well done and best of luck.
~Dean :)

Nice! I like the form of this poem, and the weight you make the reader feel with the repetition of the word falling. Your poem made me excited for autumn once again, looking forward to reading more from you.
