Dogs truly are our best friends. They make us smile when we're sad, and protect us. Very powerful poem. It touched my heart and brought me to happy tears, thinking of my deceased Golden Retriever. Thank you for the lovely memory.

Dogs can be remarkable like that. They risk their lives to save those that they love. I think that they would do it for strangers as well.

Excellent work. A dogs loyalty and willingness to put his/her life on the line is inspiring. I love the line, his little girl. That sense of family is amazing. Not far back in the news, a dog took several bites from a venomous snake to protect a family child. This reminded me of that. Well done. Hugh

Hi Patty, thanks for the good review. I had most of the poem and the intent of conveying the message ... faithful friend... and a dog... a family pet that was more of a member than pet, who also was protective of the small children. I fleshed it out after seeing the pic.
