This 'Ode to the Correct Contestants' seems to come from a place of pain. It could be that people actually get disqualified for word counts. Many some do and others don't.

wow! brilliant! What an enjoyable read and something to strive for. I like how you are able to put the quill in as part of the poem instead of just an isolated picture.

Thank you for the fantastic review and big sixer, Phil. Yeah, it just bugs me when the deadline for a contest passes and we all end up having to wait a couple more days before it goes to booth because someone can't figure out how to add correctly. Lol. The pic really is just an isolated pic. It just happens to have a white background so it blends in there. I really appreciate the generous stars and good luck wishes. How eloquent you are, poet. This entry drips of truth, frustration and yes (dare I say it) some kind of futile hope. The cadence here is hypnotic and the story line is very strong. This is a solid, poignant post and demands more than a nod from the reader. Stars are nice, eh? But communion with the members here means more. A stellar piece. I would wish you good luck in this contest but you got this in spade. Well done poet. L

A good point made here. Personally, I think that anyone incapable of making a submission in accordance with the stated rules of a contest should be disqualified. They would be anywhere else.

That's how it should be. I totally agree. There was one time I got disqualified because I mistakenly used it's rather than it is. It was my own mistake so I didn't gripe. That's how it should be now, instead of making everyone else wait for them to fix their entry. I've been waiting on this contest to make it to the booth for more than a couple days now. It just bugs me that those who play by the rules have to end up waiting days before the contest goes to the booth because someone can't seem to count.
