Good example of how punctuation changes meanings. I agree with the ending - faith is always the way to go.

Lovely presentation. Good luck in the contest.

Punctuation makes a HUGE impact in poetry. A well-place comma or dash-em can be used to create pauses. And, as you've demonstrated in your well written entry, a semi-colon can change the entire meaning of a line or phrase.
That's why in my own poetry I'm a firm advocate for the use of punctuation.
Great work with this, Anonymous Poet

Done in quite a unique format with the repetition. I find I use it from time to time. I like what you have done here very much. Creative with the wording, the punctuation and great choice of art. The unusual often stands out in my opinion and this is unusual. Love it.

    Hello meeshu!
That little semi-colon can really change the landscape of a great deal of one's writings...
    Glad you enjoyed!
    Thank you!

An interesting play on words...er, play on punctuation. I don't really understand the "I fear I have no answers," because you then provide answers--prayer and faith.

    Hello Dawnya!
It's one thing to state that one is afraid because he/she has no answers: I fear; I have no answers. And yet, it is another to simply state, "I fear I have no answers." That little semi-colon changes the landscape of thoughts and feelings...
Thank you for your excellent rating and review...

I see what you did there!

It's very interesting how punctuation can change the meaning of what we write. You've illustrated that perfectly with some good choices of phrase/comments and punctuation to discern differences. Example....

Then pray; God is listening (saying - we should pray, for God is listening)
Then pray God is listening (saying - we better HOPE he is listening)

Nice work.

    Hello Bill!
    I agree!
It is interesting how the semi-colon, (probably the most maligned and misunderstood little punctuation mark), can change the landscape of meaning, intent, and even beliefs...
    So pleased you enjoyed.
    Thank you!

I'm so glad I read poetry aloud and several times. The first time through, I totally missed the change in punctuation. How clever to cause the reader to halt in their haste, which of course is your message within a message within a message. And it may even go to deeper levels if we were willing to let it. The feeling, and insight differs so with each line depending upon the punctuation. It's amazing how the imagery differs with each line.created is so different. I would give you six stars, but I guess I'm tapped out. Very well written.

Funny how that little semi-colon has the power to change the landscape of meaning, yes?

What a beautiful and inspiring entry! You shared the emotional struggle so many of us encounter daily - the whys, the what ifs, all of those lingering moments of doubt, fear, hopelessness etc. When those questions creep up, especially in the quiet moments of the night, responding by prayer always is the only solution to those quandaries. We can find the answers we need in the starry silence of God's heaven above. The artwork perfectly complements your wonderful words. Best wishes in the contest!

    Hello DiaMarE!
I am honored by your exceptional rating and thoughtful review.
    This began with one sentence:
Have faith; God has a plan.
I realized that if I omitted the semi-colon, the meaning changes from certainty to doubt/or hope: Have faith God has a plan...

Who knew a semi-colon could be so powerful?

    Thank you again!
