This is really funny .it was intriguing in the beginning.but the closing dialogue was super.
but though he is in a wheel chair the husband seems to have manipulated ta lot of records. But then the whole thing can be of a sick mind.

What a novel idea for a story. Poor lady. She sounds so boring and out of it that I am not surprised that she believed the Social Security office. This is a very good response to the prompt--what do you do when the government says you are dead?

I found this truly entertaining. I thought she was going to shine a mirror on her husband and there'd be no reflection. I'm sure the reader will be brought in wondering as I did, how this would end. The imagery created here is also fun. You have orchestrated this dialogue well. There is not even one hiccup in the rhythm of the back and forth of thoughts. I like the little surprising touch you added by having the husband be in a wheelchair. Also appreciated in this corner was the jab about the present administration. Well written. I am voting for this one.

This dialogue-only story, Legally Dead, is really funny. The character of Anne Smith reminds me of many older ladies and gentlemen who have the sharpest tongue and use it as they realize that people and life are just plain dumb. Loved this one.

He he he, I just fell off my chair laughing at this write and I now have tears in my eyes! I just loved every word! My sister contacted her bank and was told that she was deceased and the account was locked and could not be accessed! This is a true story and she had to turn up at the bank in person with her birth certificate before they would believe her! I thank you for giving me such a great laugh! I find these little gems on here from time to time and you deserve a six for this because I am still doubled up! He he he, love Dolly x

Thank you. I have heard of such things happening. I got the idea for this because some scammer kept calling and leaving a message saying my social security number had been discontinued. O course, I never picked up the phone. The guy even had a foreign accent. LOL

This is great dialogue for the contest! The entire story had a light humor that I enjoyed. You did a good job at entering us into that phone call. You made this an interesting conversation, to say the least. I'm sure that things like this actually happen in the real world! There are a lot of nuts that may make that same call. A great write!
