Well barbed wire is a great name for a femme fatale and I do believe one was called that. Pity that anyone could use this regular Caravan event to raise his profile, but I guess if you believe what they say, this is how the Lord works--in twisted ways.
A fine tanka friend Jim and the US should just tell the truth and let the world know they aren't taking any more refugees, immigrants or anyone else, and just get on with their lives.

This has fallen on bewildered ground in the US as I think Trump's classic comment that I quote has been edited out of much of their news media. But I heard him say it and the sycophantic reaction from the Montana trumpeters. Many thanks for your review.

He would find no wisdom from ut, we're talking about a man who was going to build a big wall accross the border to stop the Mexicans coming in so then they'll have to fly over and come in like they have been doing for the past century lol :)

Hi Jim. I knew what this was about when I read the title I think some desperate migrants will die due to the razor wire. Including kids. So racist. The last "caravan" had seventeen hundred people and only two were granted asylum. Every election, republicans lie and fear monger. Four years ago it was ebola. Very adept treatment of this subject. I am so sad and feel hopeless. Trump's fear mongering is working in senate races. So are his obvious lies. Merkins really are stupid. But it is a cult with loyal, blind followers. Another very creative Tanka Jim, love the Haiku type first three lines which describes the barbed wire with such imagery, then the last two which marry wonderfully well to give that gasp of reality to the reader.

I am out of six stars already, and this tanka really deserves one. It is my favorite of all of your tankas, and I have read each one. I even like the change of color of twisted spectacle. It emphasizes the so-called beautiful aspect of the barbed wire.

Here, in the west barbed wire is not a beautiful site. I have many scars on my arms and hands from building and mending fences. It is a good determent when it comes to fences. Animals do not know the danger of it. Not always there to contain but mostly to keep the unwanted out. When we moved here it was free range and we had to fence ourselves in to keep the cattle out.
