A very well-written 5-7-5 poem about the first fluffy snow flakes swifting down to earth until there is only white to see as far as the eyes can see. A winter wonderland to enjoy.

Very nice. An accurate description of the annual cottonwood snowfall of seeds. Anathema to those who are allergic to them. The "fluffy puffs" is a mild tongue-twister, but still good 5-7-5 poem.

This 5-7-5, Airborne, has the correct formatting and gives the reader another definition of snowflakes. As delightful as they are in free fall, they cause me grief as they accumulate here.

This is a lovely 5-7-5. The picture shows the cotton clearly, and you're right, it does look like snow. Your words are equally picturesque, the imagery puts us in the picture perfectly. Well done, and good luck in the contest. :) Sandra xx

The picture is beautiful. I never knew that Cottonwood trees existed. Funny how you learn things when you start reading something by someone who wrote it. This piece I like the most, because it talks about certain trees. Nice poem! Good luck in the contest!

I enjoyed reading your authors notes as much as your 5-7-5. The poem is very good but you may get some negative feedback on the rhyme of all three lines. Nevertheless I liked your work.

    Donald,

Thank you for your encouraging review. Your comments are greatly appreciated. I guess the rhyming was the reason it didn't place.

Something I have never seen because we do not have cotton trees where I live and this must be quite a sight, like a snowy day in the warm, an atmospheric write, love Dolly x

Wow, I love it. The photo really makes this poem, because it really looks like snow, not the blooms from the cottonwood. Good syllable count and presentation. Well done and good luck in the contest.

Oh, what a lovely sight these "cottonwood" trees are. I love your title, "Snowfall in June." Nature grants us so much inspiration to write about. I like your description of "snow like cotton seeds take flight..." Good luck in the contest. You've chosen a unique topic and your format looks well crafted. :)
