Contest winner. No argument with that. Hey, how about the guy who went to check on his aging neighbor and the teen burglars stitched him from "the nave to the chaps" with hot lead...undisciplined young are deadly dangerous...

You know baby rattlesnakes are deadlier older ones. Thr older ones release just enough venom to do the job, babies drop their whole load-overkill. I appreciate you taking the time to read and review my work.

You are a great writer. This was an interesting commentary. Good story with plenty to think about... Friends, family and quality relationships with plenty love are important to us all. Well thought out and clearly written. Enjoyable to read. Excellent work.

"The administrators work in the lunch periods and catch (the) kids(, whom the) teachers have let slide." - this sentence is a bit dysfunctional. Otherwise, A number of good points.

Earl,

I think the whole point of your post is accountability and pride in what you do. I'm afraid that too many parents are falling down on their jobs of teaching these fundamentals to their children. I am only comforted in knowing that 'there is nothing new under the sun." The world has always faced these kinds of issues -- hopefully(??) the pendulum will finally begin to swing the other way sooooon!

Thanks - you make some super arguments and stellar points. Thanks and good luck! (BTW, you're in the top for me right now. I just have one more to read.)

Go get 'em!

Oh, yeah -- having recently (a few years ago) from fulltime teaching, I agree with nearly every word here, sir (dealt with the dress code and the cell phones and was a real beeyoch, apparently, since I enforced the rules) -- and I would add that the not holding students accountable extends to their grades: parents want the students to have A's because 'they worked hard' and 'deserve it'. Why the ^&^%$#$ do they have teachers, then? -- just let the parents fill out the transcripts and be done with it. From a math perspective, the school systems have bowed to this 'pressure' to the point that colleges and universities now offer a course equivalent to Pre-Algebra after which the university student must then take College Algebra and so on until they are able to enroll in the math course that is actually required for their chosen major....and every last one of those 'pre-major' math courses do not count for any credits really, but certainly cost full tuition....okay, I'll stop now. :) ;) Great write, sir!! :) Yvette :)

Thank you Y.M. and I agree absolutely with everything you have written also. The one I think is the funniest is homeschooling. If you don't want your kid to attend school then you should pay a fine to the state every year. And cyber schooling is the biggest rip-off since pet psychology. I appreciate you reading and reviewing my work.

Your essay is well thought out and artfully explained. You place the blame squarely on the parents where it belongs. I like your statement that "Kids haven't changed, adults have." And I love your comparison of their behavior to an aneurism. They do seek out the weakest part of an adult and exploit it. When I see teachers losing control and hitting students, I usually think "I wonder what buttons that student pushed." Of course teachers can't hit students, but I still sympathize with them a little. I've been there. Kids can be cruel.
Thank you for hanging that kid's cell up when he disrespected his grandmother. They need someone to take the upper hand and stop their ridiculous behavior. Even if the blame lies with the lack of a nuclear family, which I totally agree it does, kids have to be accountable--even if they got a raw deal in life because of their no good parents.
I enjoyed reading your insightful opinions. Thank you.

Well done. I agree with your point of lazy adults making it harder for all, especially harder for the kids who need to be held accountable for their actions. This includes taking their own notes, for instance. I don't really like the term negotiator. My phrase is mothers and fathers are not their children's friends, they are their children's parents.

Thank you, I didn't mean parents were negotiators i meant teachers caseworkers and social workers. I appreciate you reading and reviewing my work.

I misunderstood. Teachers, caseworkers, and social workers shouldn't have to negotiate. I sorry they do, have to, that is.

I find your examples, comments, and conclusions to be right on the money. When we were kids we probably had tough dads, but they were there. There were rules and consequences. Our examples on television may have been an ideal, but at least it wasn't the worse case scenario -- all the friggin time. Kids used to dream; now they simply scam.

We need a ten-year change to draconian rules until we hav3 a generation of useable people, not future turds.

Hey I agree with you...
But Then when a child can claim that they're being abuse
because they were punished for some indiscretion,
and the parents can be prosecuted for cruelty... Talk about Gov't interference...
I like your piece and the points you made are VERY valid, My compliments!

Thanks Wetbelly. With the kids saying theyre abused and parents prosecuted actually goes back to my point about adults being a problem, dumbasses believe the kids and go forward without proof but the kids word. I appreciate you taking the time to read and review my work.

Hi there,

Yep, the problem with today's youth is the adults around them. Not much more needs to be said.

Good piece, delivered well.

All the best
