First the wolf in the picture is absolutely beautiful. I agree about non-violent ways to protect domestic animals. I lived in a very rural area where wolves were not an issue because people respected nature and took the precautions necessary to keep the domestic animals safe. It is common sense to respect nature if you have compassion for animals. People who trap beautiful creatures like this are compensating for something their life is lacking. And ones that kill from helicopters are just plain a** you can fill in the rest. It is a shame that they are waning and the poem is so beautiful and true. It has been four years since the reversal of the de-listing of the gray wolf - I'm still waiting to see the benefit of that in writing - hopefully in 2019 someone will update the statistics online to show that there has been something positive for the Grey Wolf population once the Federal Protection was reinstated. I like that you have called this poem Wolf Song as I pretend to hear what this wolf is sounding like based on his representational howl.

The loneliness and desperation resonates with your use of words....waning...decrescendo.... victims. You have created a strong visualization in this talented verse.

All the best,

Melissa

Just as the song of the wolf howling in the night is an eerie thing to hear. so it the violence of man to his fellow man. Many blessings for a good day. Patricia
