Enjoyed this a lot, Earl, and agree with much of what you said. I am interested to learn of your interest in military fiction and plan to read more of your posted works.
Curious: did you see the recent film, "They Shall Not Grow Old," directed by Peter Jackson? He restored, colorized, and provided sound to 100-year-old WW I footage from the Imperial War Museum to create a film that brings the men to vivid life. An unforgettable experience.

This was one of the most beautiful pieces I have read in a long time.
My father-in-law, a WWII vet, died last Christmas at the age of 92. One of my fondest memories is sitting with him and listening to him tell about his service to our country. He loved talking about China. We would have these discussions every other weekend, and he would be so grateful that I would ask him to tell his stories again, over and over.
You have written an excellent speech in honor of our vets! Much love to you and appreciation. This is deserving of 6-stars :)

A very well-written heartfelt true story about WWII story. The ones who made it back from war have many stories to tell about the war and carry heavily on the invisible scars they received.

I actually interviewed all the men named plus one who had been a guard at Nuremburg(Nuremberg)

Dad and several uncles were WWII vets, and my mentor at work was one really badass troop, all the way across the Pacific with yanks or Aussies as needed, with a radio...excellent speech
