In my opinion, I am embarrassed - I have no more Six Stars, and this cries out for one - a gorgeous write, its rhyming rhythm mostly smooth throughout - I love this poem and a reminder to all of us, that where there is life and will, there is "Shared hope for all mankind" - simply beautiful, inspired and inspiring - thank you - Best of luck in the contest...

What an excellent biography of Hellen Keller! One would hope that the children of today learn about her. You've done a great job preparing the reader at the beginning, helping him/her to appreciate the great obstacles that Helen faced. That in itself was worth the stars. But then, the extensive biography (in rhyme!), was more than just icing on the cake. Keep up the great writing!

Thank you so very much, Marc, for this lovely review and thank you, especially, for commenting on the introduction to Helen's story. I learned much about Helen Keller, myself, when helping my granddaughter, in her middle school years, review her life to prepare a report on an American heroine. Her struggles from such a young age were many, but her accomplishments were overwhelming and broad. I am so happy that you enjoyed this poem. Thank you again!

Hi,
Recently I was told that my reviewing basicly sucks. So this week,
this is my review. I'm taking a survey... Would you rather:
A: Have a true review
B: Have a certain 5-star generic review
Choose wisely and be sure of your choice so I can save myself the
needless time and tears over those who don't want to hear them.
I'll make a list.
And remember.... LEARNING IS EARNING

I greatly appreciate honest review and do try to put forth pieces of work that I have enjoyed writing in hopes that others may enjoy reading... Sincere, constructive criticism can benefit the writer greatly and can help him/her to produce a more complete and finished piece. Thanks for your thoughts and preparing an honest review!

Well Mimi... I just totally lost that contest didn't I... lol I absolutely love this entry for your Story in a Poem contest. I've always loved Helen Keller and her story... it could be because one of my aunts taught blind children and used to bring a Braile book when ever she came and would try nd teach us how to 'read' with our fingers. I really think that you need to leave your eyes behind you though, or your sense of touch won't take over enough. A wonderful story, a wonderful poem... I love that you did it in 2 parts too!

Thank you so much, Susan, for the lovely review! Your Aunt must have been a special teacher, too... and I can totally understand how it could be very difficult for a seeing person to learn Braille just for the very reason you suggest...without the sense of sight, your sense of touch might not be peaked to its highest needed potential. Thank you again for the lovely review and have a beautiful day!

Wow a tale of hope and heroism delivered in palatable format of a story in a poem - an effective method for children to learn of this woman's enormous courage - rhyming and ranging across Helen Keller's life - I'm inspired to look on Amazon to read more of Helen's story- well done

This was absolutely the best Share a story in a poem entry I have read. When the booth opens this will be getting my vote. You made the story rhyme, make sense, and invoke emotions within the reader. Very nice job.

What a great poem. You packed a lot into it and taught me things I didn't know about her. The rhyme scheme got lost on the second last stanza, but other than that it was very good. Thanks for sharing it.

Thank you so much for a lovely review of my Helen Keller story and am so happy you enjoyed. Yes - I agree on the rhyme scheme in that stanza... I try very hard to keep rhythm and rhyme in sync... Still doing a little brainstorming on that one to get that rhyme perfect and in tune with what I wanted to say... Again, thank you for your review and have a wonderful New Year!

You have presented one of my heroes in excellent words that I wish she could have "read". This woman puts all to shame who have self-pity for their smaller afflictions. Thank you for this glorious offering!!!

You blessed me with this poem as I need to persist in light of my disabilities.

Disabilities should never define who we are. It is through strength, determination and love of life that defines all that we can be. Thank you again for the humbling review that you gave my poem on Helen Keller. I wish you much happiness for a beautiful New Year...

This poem, Helen Keller, is a terrific salute to the life and incredible accomplishments of this amazing woman. It is a testimony to diligent teachers dedicated to their students, and of the personal courage and will of the individual to accomplish all one can. Nicely put together, Mimi.

Thank you, Bill, for the beautiful comments and review. She was certainly a woman with the strength and determination to overcome the loss of life's gifts that we so unknowingly take for granted each day. Thank you again for a lovely review and encouragement! Have a safe and wonderful New Year!

"No hearing of laughter, no chirping of birds..."
"Your three other senses, of smell, touch and taste..."

Before I did anything else, I had to single out these powerful, simple but profound phrases.

I have always found the Helen Keller story so disturbing, and I know, I really should be uplifted by her amazing courage. But it's so SAD!

Your story-poem is amazing. I'd love to see it published in textbooks. Best of luck in the contest.

Thank you so very much for your beautiful, heart-felt review. It is a sad story of a child, so young, to have had two of our most wonderful senses taken away... but, she became strong and powerful through the love of her family, an amazing inventor and outstanding teacher... Her determination to overcome such adversities is an inspiration for all! Thank you again for the wonderful review with blessings for a very Happy New Year!
