I the thirteen lines you have shown to us the kind of young boy Landon is. Nicely done. May God bless his young life and built him into a great and powerful man. Patricia

Thank you for sharing this fine example of the Boutonniere form plus the photograph of your grandnephew in a bit of comic relief. I enjoyed your meter and rhymes and the fun. The ensemble is a warmhearted way to honor your brother. Smiles- Joan

An interesting form and I have a feeling it is probably more difficult to aschieve than it looks. I imagine the catalectic final foot makes life easier because we English speakers on the whole like to end our lines on a stressed syllable.

There is only one word in this that seems to me to get 'across' the metre. The given form requires 'DOingIT marVELousLY'. Well it may be a pronunciation thing but I want to say 'MArvelOUSly' and you won't let me. 'Doing marvelously, see?' would work better I think. Just a thought.

Thank you Pantygynt. Well, you know how we Americans strangle English. So I see your point -m potato- potahto.

A very well-written Boutonniere. First of all I am sorry to hear about your loss. The little boy put a lot of effort in to keep that tree from falling. It seems he had quite a great deal of fun posing for the photo.

I'm so sorry for your loss, Tom, but applaud you for celebrating your brother's life. I think that is how we should see death, especially if you are Christian, or whatever faith, and believe that we go on and will meet again. I want that for my funeral. You brother's grandson is a lovely looking guy, and doing a grand job there keeping that tree from falling down! lol. Another lovely poem, my friend, and another lovely photo that inspired it. Well done! :)) Sandra xxx

Thanks for sharing your poem about Landon. He is totally adorable. It sounds like you are close with him. I am sure he enjoyed having you write a poem about him. I recently wrote a story for one of my grandsons and he was quite pleased. Good job on the poem. Keep writing! TA ";~)

Thank you Teresa. Yes, he was delighted. I had written on about his brother a couple of months ago, and promised him I'd write one about him too.

This is so adorable. Such a cute little tale of your son doing such a fantastic job holding up that magnificent tree. Very clever, the flow feels like a child's tale, bouncing along. This is very nice work and I love when a good poet takes something simple from every day life and composes a poem about it. Poetry is a wonderful thing in the right hands.

At the Celebration of Life instead of funeral for Richard, this photograph of London was taken, the tree is still standing plain and will continue; poet remembers the occasion; well said, well done. Write inspire change for 1234 Years--- DR ALCREATOR

Trieschel,
This Boutonniere write is simply but intricately composed sharing a universal knowledge of what little boys are made of. In their minds, they can accomplish anything because they are strong! Too bad that the world tries to prove them wrong.

A tricky little form, but one that lends itself to humour, as the name suggests. Your theme is perfect for it. Just one line where the trochaic pattern falters: "a bit of rascality," What a fine picture of Landon.

Thank you Tony. Glad you enjoyed it. Yes it does lend itself to humor. Indeed, a was so enamored with the word - rascality - that I had to let it ruin my meter. Lol.
