Superbly written throughout its epiphanic and nostalgic lost-gone-lifetime which had been spent by the side of a daily golden motherly whispering voice as the poetess's literary studying days went by. I love it all and a well deserved winner! Great nostalgia!

You take us with you as you pine for your mum.
Your chosen wording has a rich poetic depth to it, that in many ways reminded me of Federico Lorca's poetry-that sense of getting into a word and making every one of them count and breathe life to a page.

Within just a few lines, I realised that this was extra special.
You take us with you as you pine for your mum.

I can relate to the desire to get back in touch with lost people and nature. The poem stanzas drive down a series of longings with the end result, turn, of holding onto something very precious. Good word choices, examples, and flow, enjoyed reading it.

You have adeptly expressed what many of us have also felt. If only we could all get into a time machine and go back to the moment of comfort and of nature we have always carried fondly in our memories. We want just for another precious moment with all of those we have kept dear in our hearts. You definitely draw the reader in. This is well expressed.

It relates the thoughts of someone who pines for days long past.The present day is not what she had envisaged long ago, before her mother became distant and confused with a tragic disease. Now the poet longs for things that were in her past. Old quilts, old shoes and clothes, old books with passages in them she knows off by heart. Old dogs and places she haunted as a child. A secret place out on the hillside where flowers grew. At times like these, my own thoughts were of Russian folk songs and the music of Russian composers. Borodin's "On the Steppes of Central Asia" is magnificent "soul music". There is another piece called "Monotonously Rings the Little Bell."If you Google it you will find the story behind the piece and also the story it tells. So sad, but beautiful in its own way. I feel deeply for you and your mother.I lost mine when I was 19, so my years as a young wife and mother were never shared with her. But your present distress is tragic and I understand the sense of loss and loneliness you feel. My thoughts and prayers are with you both. All the best Cass

I have a lovely book of Russian Fairy tales with illustrations, that was my mothers. We have her octagonal oak table and matching chairs in our living room, with one of her lamps, and it is comforting to sit there in the evening and browse through her books. You can tell a lot about a person by looking at their book collection. I am going to check out the music you suggested here, and many thanks for this review and comments dear Cass :))
