Aww, this was a very sweet and well conducted poem. I've always wanted a house plant of my own, but I've been afraid that I'll forget to water it!! Best of luck in the contest.

Hello there, this is such a cute little poem penned for your dying houseplant. You managed to put it into a full story from your rough day to singing to the dying plant up till rebirth. lol. Fantastic! Good luck! ~Kerry

How beautiful the way your fern responds to your touch and to your voice. Why did you slap your fern? I truly enjoyed this amusing comical poem you construed here. Check out mine, also. liberty justice WELL DONE.

Excellent.
I like to read stories that remind me that "little things,"are often mislabeled "big things," when we move from volume/weight to the emotional value created by all things of Nature.
Uplifting poem.

The rest of the night I softly sing;
hopefully, I soothe the tender (leaves). (thing) Otherwise it doesn't rhyme and throws the whole poem out of whack.

I plead that you stay awhile.
Your (lacy) green brings me (smiles.) (laci) I think that is the term when talking about plants. (smile) Again, rhyme out of whack.

Good luck in the contest and thank you for sharing this delightful poem.

I'm confused Artasylum - for all the couplet that you put up there were two that you could have made rhyme but you didn't why?
As an example -
Looking up there you are... I learn
my beautiful most cherished fern
The rest of the night I softly sing; as my chest heaves
hopefully, then I soothe the tender and lilting leaves
I'm just curious why in those lines you didn't rhyme? it wasn't too hard not to...
I like the overall entry for the contest... Good luck - but if you would like to use my suggestions and the contest is still on - please feel free... Cheers, Fonda

I guess it's a little sad if your houseplant is your dearest friend. But you must water it in order to keep it going - just like any relationship! But perhaps it was a miracle that a new sprout emerged as you called out to the dear fern :))

I wish I could have saved my lavender last year like you saved this plant. Sadly, I can't garden to save my life and every plant I bring home is doomed from the very beginning. You did a great job and it was fun to read.

Green plants doing the photosynthesis bit take out the bad and exhale the good as far as homo sapiens goes...I remember this prompt from long ago. Excellent post.
