This 2-5-2, Scrambled Eggs, has the right set up and brings in a couple cliches to let us know some poor slob is in the hen house. No. Dog house.

That's another motif for a poem... the dog house... I could use that. Thanks for putting that into my brain.
    Cheers for your review, Bill.

Wow...this is a powerful and well-written little poem. Your topic of "hen-pecked" is presented well in your 2-5-2. I hope you do well in the contest. You have a great entry. Good luck.

Hello :)
This is very clever - I like the words you chose and your presentation is great.
Sound syllable count.
Your author notes are bang on... a point well made.
Good luck in the voting booth.
Best wishes, Debra :)

Thanks for your comments of affirmation and good wishes. I prefer to write upbeat things, but sometimes a bit of social comment doesn't go astray.

When your relationship reaches a point where one of the two parties involved is constantly belittled and ridiculed by the other, chances are it's either time to move on to greener pastures or seek some sort of counseling.
If it's worth saving it is worth working towards a mutual resolution.
If not, it's probably time to go your separate ways.
Best of luck to you in the contest.

Hear, hear. Sometimes though it is so hard to work out whether that particular relationship is actually worth saving... often hard to see the wood for the trees. Greener pastures can get struck by drought too!

A well done poem that says a lot between the lines ( My favorite kind lol) Your notes say a lot as well, and point to some things well worth considering and remembering. God blesses

It's always a challenge to try and get in more than initially meets the eye.

Strong poem about abuse, very sad ending. Good use of imagery in words and in the picture to show how a situation can degrade emotionally for someone. Good work in such a short piece.

Yes it is very sad how relationships can end through verbal cruelty. Thanks very much for your review.

I see this is to mean that the hen is being pecked. According to your notes, I can see psychological abuse can be just that... abuse of the mind and spirit. Great job on this short 2-5-2 entry...

Thanks for your nice review. I have always understood hen-pecked to mean by the female towards the male. I checked and the internet gave this explanation:
adjective. browbeaten, bullied, or intimidated by one's wife, girlfriend, etc.: a henpecked husband who never dared to contradict his wife.

This is an excellent 2-5-2 poem and entry for the contest
with multiple meanings. Positive support is the key, but not always
practiced by couples. Many a relationship is broken from lack of
understanding.
Well said.
Good luck in the contest
