This a great "fish" story for the contest, told
in perfect meter with good rhyme.
Great images through descriptive word choice.
I like the twist at the end.

This poem, Husky Musky, is epic in its depiction of the valiant fisherman fighting the good fight with the mighty lake dweller. The sad mounting of same by a friend is the wah wah wahhhh of an ironic ending.

Oh dear, that is two tragedies... that the fish was actually caught, and if it had to be caught then you were the one who should have had the glory. An engagingly entertaining tale, well told.

Thank you do much for this nice review. I like to fish and when I was first married, my husband and I went fishing after hearing about what a great fisherman he was. I ended up catching all the fish, while he came up with zero, Lol. Oh, well I guess it didnt bother him too much since we've been married for 40 years. Thanks again.

I like the light tone of this poem and the determination and kindness it relates. It shows good use of environmental details to add to the authenticity. The twist at the end is heartbreaking but also good poetry. I enjoyed the read.

Thank you so much for reading. I read it to my daughter who thought it needed a little irony to make it interesting..so I added the neighbor in. Thanks again for reading.

This is so thought out. You just got my vote for contest and there were several very good entries. The rhyming is clever. Have lived for years in Wyoming, I can testify to the excruciating pain standing on lake ice can cause. I feared this was going to have you fall in since you'd mentioned drilling the hole big. Then I felt so pleased that you released the champ so the end is quite the surprise.

I would never go ice fishing, it scares me with the ice and all that, but this is great. I can just picture it happening. I loved the part about how you went to the friends house after and there it was. This was amazingly written.

Thank you so much for your kind words and the 6 stars. I don't mind the ice because in Minnesota where I live, it really freezes solid. I can't swim though, so I seldom go in the lakes in the summer. :)
