This diatelle, Cheers, has the correct syllable placements and can possibly refer to a date that never happened. Can make a fire without a spark.

Written very well ...I don't count syllables against anyone either...

It dances and the music sounds familiar.
So there you have it my review. Arvwa-

I think this is outstanding. I like the pattern, but I know from reading several of these, it takes much more than a pattern to make it truly pleasing. The lines flow, the rhymes are unforced, the story is told clearly and beautifully and the presentation is equally pleasing. I loved everything about this Diatelle poem. Best wishes in the contest too. I haven't voted yet so I don't know how it's doing but I can imagine it will do very well. ~ MM

Hello Mystery Writer,
My goodness! How I smiled when I read your well-crafted Diatelle. Yes, I realize that a relationship has come to an end, and perhaps, it is a painful end, but the fact that the writer ends with "Cheers!" and hopefully, a good bottle of wine just made me smile aloud! (Of course, I would have preferred a few amaretto sours over wine, but wine is a good second choice!) So amazing that so much emotion can be put into such a restricted poetic form. Kudos!

Best Wishes,
diane

My first choice has always been Amaretto! Thank you for your insightful review.

Nicely crafted. I think everyone can relate to those regretted moments--not only in romance but in failure to take opportunities that life places before us.
Maybe use a stronger word than "filled"-rife? stung? Just a thought.

Beautiful poem of unrequited love. I hope it's not based on actual experience, but if it is, at least your made quite the lemonade from the lemons you were dealt. I love the photo you chose to go with this, too. Great work. Good luck in the contest. xo

I felt the bookend style rhyming of "tears" at the beginning and "Cheers" as the last word help to tie this Diatelle poem all together quite nicely.
You also tie the center line in with your first and last line rhymes with "years".
Having said that, the rhyming scheme for this is more intricate that appears at first glance.
Good thinking outside the box and best of luck to you in the contest.

I hope people don't think this poem is me... It is kind of my signature thing to do - so I hope I don't bring you bad luck. Anyway, it is a beautiful Diatelle and one of my favorite forms! Poet, you have done an exquisite job of making this poem sing from the page and ring with the word that I use as my signature. I was happy to see it be something so grand and I wish you luck in the contest. Cheers, Fonda
