This is really good RodG. You've done an excellent job in describing Grandpa's farm in great detail. The picture you've painted with your words can be seen without the superb accompanying artwork. I like this well written offering. Well done! Congratulations on your win!

Liked the poem. Reminded me of my brother-in-laws farm when I was a kid. They had a cow that they milked everyday. Just the one for family and friends. The milk however was always warm from ole Betsy. Must have been cold summer nights.

I am delighted I could put you back on the farm with A SUMMER DAY, Yvon. Thanks so much for sharing. Several reviewers pointed out to me that the milk would be warm, not cold. Rod

This is a terrific poem, I really enjoyed reading it.

I've lived on a farm all my life and I simply wouldn't want to be anywhere else. It's hard work at times but without all the stress and aggravation as other jobs have.

You've got my vote and right now it looks like this one is a winner. So, I wish you an early "Congratulations." Bill

Hey, I truly appreciate your vote and early congrats. It is fun to write a poem others, like yourself, can easily relate to, having lived on a farm. Many thanks for the high praise. Rod

Today is the day to vote for this.

I like your illustration and verse, but your title needs an apostrophe for your "Grandpas" - that agrees with your text for your entry.

We all miss our Grandpas. Sadly, I only knew one, my children neither. My spouse had that same missing experience.

Your rhyming is spot on.

Hi Mark. Thanks so much for sharing A SUMMER DAY and your kind praise. I don't know what to do about that apostrophe. When I put one in, FanStory converts it to a question mark. Rod

When I was a kid I worked on my grandfather's farm. On my first day, my cousin and I planted tomatoes all day. At the end of the day, he asked what do I owe you? I sa fifty cents. He chucked and gave me a fifty cent piece. My cousin said I've been doing this for three years. I only ask for a quarter. You brought back fond memories. Good luck.

I enjoyed your story, Thomas. I once picked tomatoes with migrant workers in a field in California. I lasted half a day. So pleased A SUMMER DAY brought back memories. Rod

I grew up on a farm and can so relate to this. We have a small acreage now but I remember the days when we were milking cows and tending sheep and horses. Good luck in the contest.

This is a very poignant poem especially the last line, that caused a lump in my throat. The delightful artwork is perfectly chosen. I wish you lots of luck in the competition. Cheers. Jen.

It brings back so many memories. And your description are so good, with one exception. When we were kids and our dad was milking our lone Jersey, we'd always go out and get a glass full of fresh milk. But it wasn't cold, it was warm.
Loved the poem, it took me back more than fifty years. Thank you
